Primary = 1st or only 1 partition
Logical = is where secondary and tertiary, etc etc, partitions are installed into

Yes I did choose primary in the end, as like you say, its the only/main drive in the box, thought I'd just check.

One other thing, I used a Free program to format it into Ext3:

Connected it back into the receiver and didn't have to mount it or anything. Have now just recorded without any bother, which is how I like it, lol.
