Prime Minister David Cameron is expected to suggest the introduction of an age rating system for music videos.

The new proposals would see the creation of regulations to apply age restrictions to music videos that contain sexual imagery, violence and crude language.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Cameron wants to introduce the laws to avoid "the commercialisation and sexualisation" of today's youth.

The new regulations will be included as part of a package that is being created to ban sexualised images being used in public advertising.

Cameron first laid down plans to crack down on sexual imagery in music videos last summer after reading an independent review from the Mothers' Union chief executive Reg Bailey.

Rihanna and Lady GaGa have recently been heavily criticised for the use of sexual imagery in their music videos.
