Designed in-house at Absolute Radio and built by the TV App Agency, the service gives Samsung Smart TV owners direct access to live streams of Absolute Radio stations.

Users can stream Absolute Radio, Absolute Radio 60s, Absolute Radio 70s, Absolute Radio 80s, Absolute Radio 90s, Absolute Radio 00s, Absolute Classic Rock and Absolute Radio extra directly via the Samsung Smart Hub interface.

All Absolute Radio audio comes in High Quality, and the app features tabbed navigation and real-time information such as 'Now Playing' and 'Up Next', along with Twitter messages from the on-air presenter.

Samsung Smart TV content services manager Darren Petersen said: "The addition of Absolute Radio to our Samsung Apps store shows that media companies are fully embracing the Smart TV platform as a way of reaching more people.

"We are very excited about launching the UK's favourite radio station as a Smart TV app and look forward to evolving the service in the future."

Absolute Radio has recently been driving forward its technology innovation strategy, including the introduction of targeted advertising to its existing Apple iOS apps.

The firm's technology director Paul Brown said: "Absolute Radio continues to pioneer the digital market. Our ambition to grow the brand has been clear with our strong mobile strategy and now with our new Smart TV apps we're adding to this.

"Smart TV is already in many homes and with higher than expected growth for 2012 it's clear that we need to be available on this platform as soon as possible."

The Absolute Radio app is available to download for free from the Samsung Smart TV app store.
