At the moment I have a vu+duo, with a hard drive installed, linked to a 90cm motorised dish with a quad lnb.

I have run 2 lots of cable from it, one from the motor, and one direct from the lnb.
The dish is already running a tm6900hd and is setup fine using usals.

I have sent the dish to my ref sat (Thor 0.8) in readyness for the changover to the Vu+ Duo.

My questions are these.

1. Would it be best to disconnect the drive, for the time being and then install the flash image, or should it not matter?
2. Also with regard to the two coax cables, I take it its best to have them both attached at the start too? With the motor connected to tuner A and lnb cable to tuner B.

Then after the image has been installed, I'll need to install some boquet/sat/channel list, but not sure which one. I take it I would have to edit the channel list as my dish can only point at a certain range of sats (5w - 39e) due to obsticles.

1. Leave the drive (am assuming you mean the hdd) attached when you install your image, as this will ensure that the image recognises the drive.
2. Yes, connect them straight up, and put the motor to a and lnb to b. Then, when you set up your image, for tuner A, tell it to use the simple config, positioner, and the long/lat settings. Then, for tuner B, tell it that it's a second lnb from the motor.

As for the bouquet/settings, try a few and see what you like. I personally didn't like any of them, so have to go about updating them myself which is a right ballsache. Am behind on virtually all satellites :p hehe. But for the packages I use the most they're set up just how I want :) lol. Anyway, once you found one you want to use, you can use Dreamboxedit, and delete the satellites and bouquets from it easily enough :)

A couple of more questions.
How long should this image flashing take?
Once installed I take it, will I need to scan each and very sat, if not using a bouquet?

Sicilian

Flashing image will only take a min or two using USB method. Easiest option is to upload a Enigma 2 settings pack from our Enigma2 downloads. Open a pack with Dreamboxedit and see which you like then send to the Duo.

Ok, I installed the DreamElite image BH 1.3.3F, all seemed to load, got to the point where it asked to unplug the usb stick and reboot. So I took out the stick and switched it off from the back, restarted and its got as far as the Blackhole DreamElite image with the text at the bottom Loading Default. And thats it. What next? I thought the wizard should have started after the reboot? Oh and none of the buttons seem to work on the remote by the way. Any ideas what to do next?

Sicilian

Start again with a re-flash. It should boot into the start wizard. You could try powering off for a few seconds then booting back up again before re-flash.

Logicearl
23-07-10, 12:06
Tried it again, as you said, but its still the same.

The box is connected to my router, and has a hard drive installed, would they cause this problem. Or should I try another image?
I take it this shouldn't happen.

Sicilian
23-07-10, 12:11
No it shouldn't. It takes a while for the loading defaults screen to end the go into the wizard. How long are you leaving it?

Logicearl
23-07-10, 12:16
So far its been nearly 8 mins. I've left it on this initial screen. How long should it take then?

Sicilian
23-07-10, 12:19
Ok, try disconnecting HDD, router and re-flash.

Logicearl
23-07-10, 12:44
Right, disconnected the hard drive, and unplugged the network cable, srated it up without flashing and we seem to be in the wizard.
Its asking for a video input, 3 selections, but not hdmi, I'm assuming I need to select YPbPr?

Ooops I seem to have not read the question properly, in my haste, lol.
Anyhow have selected the video input option.

Now I have hooked this box upto a Panny 42" Full HD plasma. I take it I need to select 1080i or 720p?
I's sure I read somewhere that its imortant to select the right one here.

Sicilian
23-07-10, 13:05
If HDMI is not listed you must select DVI. Set to 720 or 1080 depending what your plasma supports.

Logicearl
23-07-10, 13:26
Thanks for this info, so far so good.
I have a plasma thats capable of 1080p, so set it to 720p, no doubt I chose the wrong option, lol.

I then went into the wizard where I have set Tuner A in Simple config then positioner and then input my long and lat settings (taken from TM6900HD).

Now the part I'm not sure upon, regarding Tuner B.
So far I have got to the screen/option of Configuration Mode: Second Cable of motorised LNB -
Tuner: Tuner A: BCM7335 DVB-S2 NIM (Internal) (DVD-S2)
is this the correct option?

Sicilian
23-07-10, 13:27
I've got a panny plasma, mine is set to 1080i.

Regards, tuner please post what your setup is, dish, motor, lnb etc...

Logicearl
23-07-10, 13:35
The dish is a 90cm, model, looks similer to a triax.
The motor is a Digipower DiSEqC H-H motor SG2100A
The LNB is a new Inverto black ultra quad
At the moment there are two cables (WF100) one connected to Tuner A via motor and the second direct from the lnb to Tuner B.

Sicilian
23-07-10, 13:55
What you posted above for Tuner B is correct then, second cable from motorised LNB.

Logicearl
23-07-10, 14:02
Ok, done that.
Now its asking do I want to load default sat lists. Does this matter, or should I say no?

Appologies for what are basic questions, which you must get asked al the time.

I think I'm going to do a Step by Step guide for all those like me, lol.

Sicilian
23-07-10, 14:08
I usually select no, but it will make no difference if your going to use a set of Engima 2 settings/bouquets.

Logicearl
23-07-10, 14:17
So if I select no then what should I do next regarding doing a service scan?
Choices are Auto scan
Manual scan
No scan later, manually.

Sicilian
23-07-10, 14:25
I normally select manual scan later as I transfer a set of Enigma2 2 settings / bouquets.

Ok, I've now got to the network setting part, getting my router to see the box is a bit trying at the mo. I've selected NO dhcp as it doesn't get a ip address. I've typed in all the details regarding IP adress etc, but now have the option of naming 2 nameservers. Are these refering to the routers Primary and secondary DNS servers? If so there arn't any named in the router. So should I just click OK with them 0.0.0.0 ?

For the initial setup I'd use DCHP. If it dont get an IP cancel out of the wizard and reboot the receiver, then go into network settings and correct.

Logicearl
23-07-10, 15:29
Ok, rebooted and got back into network settings, and ran the test, and now get all green ticks. So at leat I'm connected then.
The next step I suppose is to download a Bouchet and edit that using Dreamedit.

Have I supposed to set up a username and password? I thought the default was root and blank

What did you use to upload the settings/bouquets?

Dreamboxedit

u need to have a password in the box download dcc120 and add a password . go to telnet and type passwd then put your password in

Logicearl
26-07-10, 18:24
I was under the impression that you didn't need to set a username and password if using Dreamboxedit. I thought that only applied if you wanted to telnet to it.

basilyoung
26-07-10, 22:46
the standard password for most (including dreamelite) vu+ images, is
login = root
password is blank " " as in nothing
you need to telnet into the unit, type

passwd (not password)
you will be prompted to type in a new password
type in your preferred password (you will notice, no text will be seen) once done, hit return
you will then be pompted to repeat the password, do so and again hit return

you will then be able to ftp to the unit
use the screen interface
dreambox edit etc

Thanks for that baz.
So just to clarify the point.

In order to upload anything to the receiver, you first have to set a password by telneting the receiver the way you have stated.

I'll try this in the morrow - still learning after all these years.

you can download to the unit, via the menus
to upload, (ftp etc) you need to be able to access the unit via network
so yes, you need to enable that
so the telnet password issue must first be sorted

I think I'm getting there, lol.
Password accepted, opened up Dreamboxedit and tested connection and username and password, and thats fine.

Now I just need to upload this bouquet and that should be it, shouldn't it? To access the channels I mean?
By just selecting "Send files to dreambox".

One other thing should "Auto reload settings Enigma 2 be ticked or unticked?

Appologies for being such a pain, but I do tend to make life difficult for myself.

=====
Update

I went ahead and uploaded and ended up with this:
Connecting to 192.168.1.100.
Connected.
Dreambox response: Login successful.
** Getting directory list /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/* **
Starting FTP transfer
Transfer complete
** Sending file "/var/tuxbox/config/enigma/lamedb" **
Starting FTP transfer
Transfer aborted
Error sending file "lamedb" to the Dreambox.

I take it from what is says it failed to upload properly?

Ok, I worked out why it didn't upload, doh!
I had to select "Enigma 2 Settings" in the profiles tab.

I have now it seems succesfully uploaded this bouquet, after rebooting the box.
What I have now is quite a long list. I did move the dish prior to all this to Thor (0.8), so now if I select a Thor channel, it should open as before?

yes auto reload should be ticked

in options, when you set up the connection paramitis, did you select enigma2? (new enima2 settings)

once you change the bouquets, did you save them to the same location on your comp

also whilst transferring files back to the unit, was the abort instant?, or did you see a fast transferr of files going over to the unit?

I have just used db edit, to test my post, and the file transferwent ok, message at the end was "reboot manually" to activate the files

Baz, yes I sort of figured it out, lol.
Yes I did save the original bouquet, then edited it then saved it again. This produced a whole lot of backup files, albeit in the same place, so hopefully this was the right thing to do.
Although uploading a bouquet is a fast and what should be any easy way of saving a lot of time, I already see lots of sorting (channels) that still needs to be done. But I'm very happy so far, just don't know what the other half will think of it, lol, having only just got her head around using a basic harmony remote.

All the files did transfer very quickly, which surprised me, lol, was thinking it was going to take a lot longer than it actually did.

As I want to install (if thats the right word), cccam, I take it from what little I have seen, you would install/download it from within Dream Elite Green Panel | Addons Manager | Addons Download Manager | Dream Elite Cams. The only problem if this is the right place, which one, lol.

Still learning

well some good things are happening, as in you sussed it, before my reply, so you are beginning to get comfy with the unit
CCcam, I would use the unit to down load the cam, (recommend 2.1.4) you will also want to down load the CCcam.cfg
but would suspect, thats where the subject ends on this forum. but suspect, you have freinds that will help
