as stated before you must be on latest bootloader and linux 3.1 minimum for this driver to load or be of any use to you

as i posted in big red letters. these drivers will only work with the linux kernal 3.1.0 or higher, it's even included in the name of the driver archive.

Yes i already am on 3.1.0, don't assume ... I ment the previous boot loader (not original one) which enable the leap to 3.1.0

I thought this was a new boot loader, how do we install those drivers ?

i did not assume any thing, these drivers require kernel 3.1.0 minimum.

these drivers require kernel 3.1.0 minimum.

It's probably worth explaining what that is, exactly. I have no idea - seems many are in same boat.

linux 3.1.0 is a new kernal and higher than the old kernal 2.6.31

the new drivers are only compatible with the newer higher kernal

I am still non the wiser as to what the new kernel is and how to install etc.

The new kernel is already in the image so if you flash VIX 2.3 you will be fine.

For 2.3 you need to update your bootloader and you do this the same way you flash the image, have you updated your bootloader? what image are you currently on.

That post dates back to April - I wouldn't call that a "new" kernel.

if you have not loaded the new kernel and your still running vix 2.2 you can not load these drivers.

if you have not loaded the new kernel

What is it?
How do I do it?
Why would I do it?

the new Linux kernel v 3.1.0 is basically the core of the operating system or image. you will need to upgrade to this if you want to use any of the newer images also this kernel provides better inbuilt support for USB tuners amongst many other things. you can find the kernel along with the image you need to run after it is upgraded as you cant use the older images in the ViX 2.3 release thread for this receiver.
