new bootloader 30.11.2011 instalation problem ?

I have problem with instalation.I download bootloader from here - http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?13649-ViX-Team-ET5x00-Image-v2-3-07-12-2011 .Transfer the file in et5000 in my usb.After that put usb in box port.Turn on the box and load image ,can not installed bootloader.I try to rename folder to et5x00 and switch on the box ,show yellow led indicator but again not install bootloader.

if you are installing new bootloder for first time then it will have a folder name of et5000 and will flash


if it does not flash it possible that you already have new bootloder

flash image and see if it works as folder et5x00

I do not installing bootloader at the moment.I want to install bootloader for first time.

ok then download bootloader and make sure folder is et5000 restart box with stick inside and press up arrow to start bootloader flash

I forget to tell you ,that in arhive from this site - http://www.world-of-satellite.com/sh...2-3-07-12-2011 have two folder et5000 and _MACOSX and I use et 5000 file only.

yes thats right only et5000 the macosx file is auto created by mac machines but not needed

I have already read this instuction and I upload any image in my box,but now yellow led not shine when I restart the box.
This is the problem.

I buy my box from Bulgaria.

Yes ,I understand but when the name of folder is et5000, yellow led not shine.
I must try to upload other image and after that flash new bootloader,but I do not know whether will bootloader upload again.

am having the same problem and my box is not a cone I got it from the sponsor a few months ago

I think that when you want to flash the bootloader, as soon as the yellow led shines, you must push the down arrow button, not the upper one. Try this.

You don't need to press the down arrow to flash the BL its the same as the image, make sure just the ET5K file is on the root of the USB and the process takes a matter of seconds.

When I did it on the ET5K, I repeated it twice as I thought it had not done it. Do not expect the same flash time as an image. As long as you get the flashing icons from the link silverfox posted than its very likely BL has flashed.

Who did you buy from, if forum sponsor and it has vix 2.3 than its on the new bootloader

did you buy it before or after the release of vix 2.3 if after it will defo have new loader

or if you requested pli image then it will have new bootloader on it

If you want VIX 2.3, than you need to update the bootloader before hand.

Follow the instructions in Sic post above and afterwards flash with 2.3

Format the USB on the PC and than drag and drop the file in the extracted folder to your USB.

If it does not work try it with a another USB

Also remember the bootloader flash takes literally seconds.

Did you try to flash the new image after the bootloader. Also do you have any other USB sticks in the box, if so pull them out and than flash.

PS - def turning it of by the rocker switch on the back?

if so can you oot that up and telenet in and type

uname -r


this will tell you the bootloader


if its any where around

2.6.18 or something similar you need to update

if its higher 2.6.3x then yr on new bootloader

retry flashing following flashing instructions

this will tell you the bootloader
Wrong. This tells you the version of the linux kernel, not the version of the bootloader. The two are different and you could be running a 2.6.18 image on a bootloader that would support a 2.6.3x image.

your right its a kernal number but in teh case of ET series images

the kernal 2.6.18/2.6.31 is pre linux 3.1.0

adn a kernal of 3.1.0 is post linux 3.1.0

so if your kernal is on 2.6.18/2.6.31 then your on old bootloder

if your kernal is above 2.6.31 then your on new bootloder

Hi Guys,
I also have some trouble with my ET5000.

I got it from Amazon today and installed the latest Bootloader I could find in the inet.
the filename is: 12328-bootloader-20111210-et5x00.zip
When the box starts, the red Xtrend logo is shown in the middle, at the bottom there is "BOOTLOADER LINUX 3.1 UBIFS" mentioned and the word "BOOTING..."

And that's it... nothing else hapens.

I have installed latest OpenPli Nightly from 28.12.

What can be the problem?

I had trouble loading an image (couldn't get the orange light up when booting) - I was naming the folder on my USB stick et5000 instead of et5x00.
