View Full Version : [ET5x00] Development stopped?
Hi
Wondering if the development of Vix for ET series has been stopped? There hasn't had an update for a long time.
Now I'm considering moving to Openpli instead since it seems to be in active development, and it now supports HDMI-CEC. Is there any suggestions whether I should or shouldn't do?
Thanks a lot!

you can move to which ever image you want to
as for development its still active and a release hasnt been made due to ET being very unstable
PLi regardless of instability release a daily image and its up to user to use it or not
as for VIX we test and test and test and test and then test some more before release
and just because no update or image has been made doesnt mean we are not developing
at the end of it you will have a stable image
There was an issue with Xtrend receivers across all images and it was due to a kernel problem.
As a result we decided not to release the latest image until it had been fixed and we were happy with the image. Other teams did release the image with the bug in but we prefered to hold of release until we were happy.
The image is undergoing testing and we hope to release it very shortly. there was an admin announcement about this a few weeks back.
As for trying other images, its always best to experiment and settle one on that you are happy with but we will not release an image with a known bug in it - that's just our ethos.

Blank screen
basically randomly and very often in teh middle of watching the screen goes blank and all can hear is audio and see the menu
the only way out is to hard restet the box
then its a waiting game as to when it re-apears
ah right
thx for the info.
sounds similar to an issue that appeared on another type of box.
black screen was solved with the latest kernel 3.1.0. on pli image and work fine
yes but we still had things that needed testing thouroughly before release. dont worry a vix image for et series will still get released ... just a bit of patience :D

yes but ViX do not release half tested images full of bugs, as said we fully test every thing we release. you will never see us release something just to be the first to do so. our primary aim is to release a image that is as stable and user friendly as we can get it.
Well I am very grateful for your thorough testing. Especially as in this case there is no going back.

LoL, it takes us so much time to find any, that release is being delayed
I upgraded the bootloader on my Et5000 so the only choice is Pli for me at the moment which seems pretty much stable if I mind say. I was using VIX before the upgrading of the bootloader and currently waiting for your release. I suggest you may consider releasing the image and let the people find the bugs (as long as they are not MAJOR bugs), it should be much easier spotting them. And then with the help from us you could just make an online update to fix them.
Either way cheers on your work. We are waiting patiently... :)

i'm sorry but thats not how we do things. The image will only be released when the team and those testing it feel it is ready, although we are in the very last stages of testing now.

So 1 GBP repeated 7 times is still one pound

No, since, if you have 7 x £1 it = £7. But, you could have 1 £5 note and 2 £1 coins, and would be the same. Except, instead of 1 item being repeated, you'd only be having 2 items...
