Every time I try and update my box it crashes to the green screen Specially when i try and update 4.8e. I seem to happens mor after i try and scan a single transponder. Also the last couple of days it been having problems finding a couple of satellites and its really slow scanning seams to take ages as it keeps freezing then you see the vix logo spin for a bit then it will scans some more

Sorry for bumping up my post but this is starting to do my head in every time i try and update it it crashes and restarts and the channels it finds are not there no more. Its only a few months old and as always done this but now it seems to be getting worse

The best advise I can give you at the moment is to flash the box again without restoring your old settings.
This may take you 10 minutes or so, but will probably solve your problem.

btw: what do you mean by "updating"? A software update or a satellite scan?

I've tried that a few times now using a usb pen. I mean a satellite update like adding new transponders

Shouldn't be doing that on a service scan... This is with vix image, yeah? Which satellite? Multi, single?

First thing to try ... Once you've scanned your satellites, before going to a channel, try restarting the box...

What happens when you download channel settings from the feeds??? They work then?

Do's it with them all but for some reason it's worse with 4.8e I've even tried the restart thing but it doesn't save the channels . Am new to these box's so am still learning

And what happens with one of the 'ready made' bouquets like likra's our vhannibal's etc?

Just run a simple scan, see screenshot, change the satellite to the one you are scanning.

Menu > Setup > Service Searching > Manual Scan

Done that but it doesn't scan all the channels that's why i was trying to add the single transponder but even doing it the way you said takes ages as it keeps freezing then the little vix logo pops up spins for a bit then carry's on again. Just tried it again and did what you said and it did the same thing froze then flashed up the green screen and restarted

Try an upto date Settings/bouquets pack, It may already contain the channels you are looking for.

Guide http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?623-How-to-send-save-Enigma-Settings-to-the-VUDuo-using-DBEdit

Latest Catseye settings http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?42-Catseye-Enigma2-Settings-file-75-East-to-58-West/page6

That pack should already contain an upto date satellites.xml

Have you rebooted or restarted the GUI after transfer of the channels? Are the files paths set correctly in dbedit? Can you post the crashlog please.

Just done this one now

Thats scanning 16e.

Did you wait for the scan to fully complete? After it reaches 100% you need to wait for the second 100% screen saying complete/finished. Then press exit.

What button press's did you do in order to cause the crash?

jonc

Ye I waited for it to finish the scan. I pressed the Ok button

I go to setup
service searching
Manual scan then from there i ever try and do a single transponder scan or a single satellite scan.
Then once it s finished i back out of there and go to ever bouquets satellites and the minute i click ok on any of the channels it crashes. It only crashes when I do this
