Virgin Media has today announced the upcoming addition of BoxNation to its sports channel lineup, broadcasting amateur, domestic and international boxing via subscription.

Going live on December 1 at Virgin Media channel 546, BoxNation will show live fight action on cable television for the monthly subscription price of £10.

The channel, already available at Sky 456 and online, will show at least one major fight every weekend, backed up by fights in the week and reruns of previous bouts.

Programming on BoxNation will include Steve Bunce's Boxing Hour every Monday night.

Former Channel 5 and ITV sports presenter Jim Rosenthal will be part of the channel's presentation team, alongside Paul Demsey and John Rawling. Ex-Sky presenter Richard Keys is also part of the team.

Upcoming fights on BoxNation include the December 3 double-header in Helskinki, Finland, featuring the WBA Heavyweight Champion of the World clash between Alexander Povetkin and Cedric Boswell, along with the British heavyweight Dereck Chisora taking on Robert Helenius.

December 9 will see a double header featuring the European and WBO Intercontinental Super-Middleweight Champion James DeGale, and George Groves, the British and Commonwealth Super-Middleweight Champion, at Liverpool's Echo Arena.

Cindy Rose, executive director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media said: "We're thrilled we're offering the most exciting boxing action available to our customers.

"We know that avid boxing fans will welcome today's news and will be looking forward to ringside action whilst watching some of the most prolific boxing stars battle it out for some of the sport's most prestigious world titles."

Boxing promoter Frank Warren added: "I'm delighted that Virgin viewers will now get to see some of the best boxing action from around the world live on BoxNation. We've got a great lineup over the coming months and a cracking lineup for early 2012.

"Recently, BoxNation viewers have seen two candidates for fight of the year between Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew and Liam Walsh against Paul Appleby, and recently Ricky Burns's magnificent win over Michael Katsidis, plus George Groves's sensation KO win over Paul Smith."

BoxNation joins Virgin Media's existing sports lineup, including Sky Sports, Eurosport, ESPN, ESPN Classic, Racing UK, Motors TV and football club channels MUTV and LFCTV.
