Vuplus haven't released a vu+ duo image since the 9th of June. It will be 6 weeks on Wednesday.

They haven't left it this long before. Is it because the image is getting mature or have they something big planned?

They are probably spending some time on the solo ,there was quite a rush on the last updates with quite a few updates within a few days.
Either that or they are stuck and are struggling to progress any further.

I think they are on vacation. But this is just my assumption.

About DUO. What is bugging me:
- remote control problems
- media player problems

About remote control. It still doesnt work 100% + i also have ONE gigantic problem. I have at home Mitsubishi FD35 AC which is one of the best ACs. Problem is that when i use its remote VUs frontpanel goes blank and whole device stops responding. Bizarre!! I dont know why VU+ has so many remote control problems. WTF

About media player. Bunch of issues. Many files dont play or stutter.......... etc.

Hi mate

If you take note of dreambox image developement then you would see there isnt a release every week or so, the kathrein for instant there was maybe a new or updated image say once every 3 months, alot depends on bugs within the previous release they maybe working on also trying out new ideas.
What we have already is cool VTi PLi dreamelite and original image, im sure in the near future we will see the bugs ironed out of the AAF and POD images in the mean time enjoy your box if you wish to see some changes then maybe play with the skins some can give ur menus a whole new look.

Nice news :)
As I see news are
- Moving to OE 1.6 (forget old plugins) ???
- Support DTS downmix (needs plugins??)
- Media player fix-es
- Fan control is implemented in image (not plugin)??
- Fix front rotary switch problem - i dont know exactly whath is this (maybie fix problems when box can not boot if switch it immediately - i have
that kind of problems on duo)

These people listen to the voice of the people :D

is there anything to be gained by installing an original image?

or is it just beneficial for the flash as a multiboot image?

i gather there are no softcams !!!

is it straight forward to install softcams manually?

does media player work for music?

that's it for the time being :D

Not really, prob better off waiting for VTI's modified version.

i gather there are no softcams !!!

With the older official images you could add the VTI addons feed to install CCcam, not sure if this still works with this images as its OE1.6.

does media player work for music?

Not sure, going to try and find time to mess around with this image over the next couple of evenings.

someone reported that there are still many playback issues, so i dont know what they realy fixxed in media player section. I think we will get 5.1 image soo ;)

Otherwise iam not too happy about this image, because it will take a looong time for new images to appear (openpli, DE). VTi will probably arrive first, will see.

I wonder how long it will take openpli. They're normally pretty quick with changes, keep an eye on their changelog here

I'm not 100% sure, but dont OpenPLi run their own OE version or something?

What python are they using 2.5 or 2.6?
Think that they can not be so independent because of drivers and rest so and they have to do big turn also like a others teams.

Sicilian

Well looks like last nights OpenPLi build for the Duo failed with the new drivers as its not been uploaded yet.

i thought that the vu+ already used the new kernel form OE1.6, the new python 2.6 should not have much to do with drivers. just a thought

I use the OpenPli image and every alternative day I go and perform a software upgrade.

Yesterday when I did a software upgrade it upgraded about 21 packages including the kernel (that is what I could see on the screen).

And date on the image comes up as 21-07-2010 when I select "About" in the menu...

As I see last pli is not with these new fixes.
First it is python 2.5 - not 2.6
Second there is no fan control and timer in image
Also I did not see any improvment oh media part......

love to see PIP :DPiP is not possible (hardware-limitation, only one video-decoder on board).
But: my previous box was PiP capable, and I only used it once (to see if it worked).

I'm not 100% sure, but dont OpenPLi run their own OE version or something?Yes they do. Their OE is far ahead of OE 1.6.

As already written on many places, PLi uses its own OE and therefore different python.
Fan control is part or original image. PLi image is not based on original, so PLi programmers will need to implement this by hand.
Media part is still pretty buggy, even in 5.0 version ;)

We better wait for 5.1 . Iam not happy with 5.0 release. Remote control still doesnt work as it should and this is my major complain.

bob1

Oh right i thought you meant the original remote, seems to work fine with the harmony 515.
