Virgin Media has confirmed that a major update will start rolling out for its TiVo customers tomorrow (November 15), bringing a raft of fixes and new features.
The cable operator said that the majority of TiVo customers around the UK should have received the update by Monday (November 21), when it will release a media statement detailing all the upgrades.
In September, it was revealed that the update will "fix, improve and add some fantastic new features" to the converged TV service powered by US DVR giant TiVo that was launched almost a year ago.
Among the new features understood to be in the update is 'Express Series Link' for quick recording, backed up by more "padding" around the start and finish of series links.
The update will introduce "multi-tap text entry" for making searches, described as "just like texting on your mobile phone", while BBC iPlayer will be fully integrated in the TV guide, on-demand menu and search systems.
In the TiVo app store, the YouTube service will be "given a whole new look" with more videos, new functionality and support for high definition quality footage.
A "TiVo Buddy App" will also apparently come to the Apple App store, enabling users to control certain features on the service via their iPhone, iPad or iPad Touch.
Fixes in the update include improved 1080i upscaling for picture quality, a HDMI connection reliability fix, and a tweak involving the info button providing programme information in-guide and in the mini-guide.
