Android lovers aren't short of a high-end handset or two this winter, but those on a tighter budget now have reason to celebrate too: Huawei is bringing an affordable Android tablet and smart phone to the UK, The Inquirer reports.

The Mediapad launched in the US in June, and comes packing Android 3.2 (no Ice Cream Sandwich here, we're afraid). Its 7-inch screen uses in-plane switching to give a wide viewing angle, and inside is a 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor. It also boasts a 5-megapixel camera on the back, with a 1.3-megapixel front-facer.

Huawei is also bringing the Huawei Vision smart phone to the UK. It's the follow-up to the Blaze -- a pretty good budget Android phone -- though it only runs Android 2.3, to keep the price down. Despite running the same version of Android as its predecessor, it is a bit of a step up, with a bigger 3.7-inch touchscreen, and the camera is 5-megapixel, which is a big improvement on the Blaze's paltry 3.2-megapixel. A single-core 1GHz processor is inside (not a patch on some coming soon, but there you go).

The Vision was announced back in August, but now Huawei has confirmed it's coming to the UK in December, free on a £25 per month contract from Phones4U. Or you can pre-order it now for £335.

The Mediapad, meanwhile, will cost £275 for the Wi-Fi-only model when it goes on sale at the beginning of next year. So, it's not going to challenge the iPad or Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in terms of specs, but a respectable budget offering for Android fans.

We'll bring you full reviews of both as soon as we can. Would you buy either? Let us know down in the comments
