Hi guys.
I need a 12v capable box. Boxes marketed as 12v tend to be total cr*p, so I'm looking at alternatives. A lot of / most dreamboxes seem to fit the bill but I hate them!
I'm cosidering the new ET5000 which appears to have an external power supply and runs on 12V.
Can anyone advise please (eg. which box, cables needed, power consumption etc)

Regards,

The ET5000 indeed has a 12V powersupply, rated at 3.5A.
You know that nowadays there are very good inverters (12V= --> 230V~ sinus)?

Does this mean I can power the box from a car cigarette lighter (safely)?

Absolutely. Make sure the cable is not too thin.
