Hello Moto: hello, Motorola Xoom 2 and Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition, two new tablets powered by Android Honeycomb.

The Xoom 2 boasts a 10-inch touchscreen, while the Xoom Media Edition has an 8.2-inch screen. They're covered in rufty-tough Gorilla Glass and a splashproof coating, with 5-megapixel cameras on the back and 1.3-megapixel video-calling lenses on the front.

Inside there's a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB storage. Built-in apps include MotoCast for zapping your films, music, photos and files wirelessly between your computer and tablet, and MotoPrint for cable-free printing.

Motorola reckons the Xoom 2 is 100g lighter than its predecessor and the Xoom 2 is lighter than a paperback. They also have a new design, showing off angled shoulders to distinguish them from the slew of black rectangles currently on the market.

The original Motorola Xoom was the first tablet to show off Google's Honeycomb, the version of Android designed specifically for slates. Google now owns Motorola, so we'd hoped the next Xoom would be the first tablet to show off Ice Cream Sandwich, the new version of Android engineered to work seamlessly on both smart phones and tablets. But it seems Moto and the Big G have yet to bring the two together.

Our crack team of tablet reviewers is zooming down to Motorola Towers to fondle the new tablets as you read these very words, so keep it CNET UK for our hands-on preview and first video.
