3D Focus TV first saw the 3DeeScreen back in September 2010 where Spatial View's Paul Roscoe demo’ed the prototype version (video below). Since then, the company have been in discussions with several manufacturers and established a range of compatible laptops which will convert from a regular laptop into a glasses free 3D laptop when the display is attached.

The launch laptops are Dell’s Studio 1558, XPS L502, Studio 1557, Inspiron 1564 and Inspiron N5010. ASUS laptops G53J and N53J are also supported as well as the HP Pavilion DV6. More laptop supported is expected soon as it’s designed to work on most standard 15.6” laptops of 1080P and 720P resolution.

Compatible content can be found on Spatial View’s 3DeeCentral website – a 3D content portal which aggregates free and premium content. There are currently over 150 3D videos and image collections on the portal from 12 genres such as music videos, documentaries, animation, extreme sports and more. YouTube 3D content can also be watched without glases using the 3DeeScreen in a similar way to the LG Optimus 3D phone.

Spatial View have added advanced eye-tracking which was not in the prototype version. The custom designed lenticular lens will automatically detect the angle the viewer is watching from and is attached to the screen bezel via a magnetized mounting frame.

This follows Sony’s 3D laptop screen add-on designed for Vaio S and C series notebooks which was shown at IFA in Berlin last month. Sony’s 3D laptop screen is expected to cost 129 Euros. Spatial View’s 3DeeScreen will cost $129 plus delivery. Spatial View also offer a glasses free 3D overlay for the iPhone 4. The company is currently awaiting a decision from Apple as to whether their 3DeeCentral iPhone app is approved. An Android app is expected to follow.
