By the sounds of that, it's quicker just to download a straight mkv file nowadays...

(I managed to download a file earlier this evening, 5gb in size, in just over 30 minutes...)

And, with what I've just been reading about when Dexter Series 4 is due to be shown on FX in the UK, it's no wonder people download!!! (btw, if people are wondering, S4 is due to be shown around 27th August, a whole 11 months after the US!!!)

Also, I find it easier to convert an mkv file to a ts file (using tsmuxergui), as I transfer the files to the hdd of my box, and this allows for better rewind/fastforward etc...

I just tried and didn't get on with it too well. It seemed to convert all right, but the sound gave up after about 1 min of playback and if you pause the file, it hung. Whether or not that's something to do with the settings I used, I don't know.

I've also just tried the trial of AVS Video converter 6. This worked 100% fine, would pause, resume (a few second gap before the sound starts up again) and the sound plays fine.

But as it's a trial, a message keeps appearing right in the middle of the output. Costs $30 to buy.

Just tried another one that's free and seems to work fine.

Tried it on default settings, took longer than the rest, might be due to the settings, took 13 mins for a 22min file.

Playing around with the settings reduces the time. I tried a random setting for the same file and this time it only took 5 mins, although quality wasn't quite as good.

So with some playing, XvidD4PSP looks like it might be quite good.

On another note, I've noticed that often when pausing MKV files on the vuduo, the sound doesn't start up again when you continue. Simply pressing "4" or "1" to rewind a few seconds fixes this.
