View Full Version : UPC maintains Hungarian digital lead

UPC was the leading overall provider of digital TV services in Hungary in July, claiming a market share of 25.7%, according to data produced by the regulator NMHH.
It was followed – in a survey looking the leading providers, who between them covered around 86% of the broadcast market – by Digi (22.9%), T-Home (21.3%), Tarr and PR-Telecom (each with 3.3%).
UPC was also the market leader in wired broadcasting (cable/ITV), with a share of 27.3%, followed by T-Home (28.3%), Digi (14.7%), PR-Telecom (4.7%) and Tarr (4.6%).
However, Digi was by far and away the leading provider of wireless broadcasting services (DTH and MMDS) with a 42.8% share, ahead of T-Home (28.5%) and UPC Direct (21.8%).
Significantly, the pay-DTT service MinDig TV Extra had a share of 3.6% and its subscriber total stood at 33,658.
The number of digital cable/IPTV subscriptions was meanwhile 624,733 and DTH/MMDS 896,103.
