I've just got my box today pre-flashed with the vix image and now am totally lost as how to set-up the different sats on it. I original had a blade box that was easy to setup but I can't get my head around this one. The manual that comes with it might as well be in Spanish to me as when it comes to the part about setting up the sats its not very helpful at all. By the way this is my first time with a linux box

first of all, I take it you have a motorized set up

go menu/setup/service searching/tuner config
set it to simple
select positioner
put in your USAL,s setting

( your geographical location )

ie if liverpool area, 53.200 north 3.2 west

press ok...( this saves the info you have added )

and that should be that

Ye it's motorised I did all that its what I do from there

if your motor is not USALS compatible you will need to use the following, dont worry about the DM800 reference it's the same procedure for all E2 boxes.

my motor is not usals but i used the above tutorial supplied by bassethound and got mine working, all be it with a fair amount of head scratching along the way.

seems backward to me that i could set up my old dm7020 in less than 5 minutes but with these newer e2 boxes there just not user friendly when it comes to setting up a non usals motor.

am on the bit where it says use the satfinder but am i best using the manual transponder or predefined transponder

basilyoung

on uk ( 28 east ) or 19 east,..predefined should be ok

if your settings are incorrect,..you will see signals going up/down as the dish passes the various sats

i would select 28 east, see what happens, the 19 east

Am really starting to hate this box already every time I think am getting somewhere I hit another problem then am back to square 1. The only think I've learnt so far is to turn it on

it's not the boxes fault mate, i had the exact same trouble when i got my Uno when trying to use a motor that i have used for 9 years with my DM7020. the simple fact of the matter is my motor while perfect for the older E1 box was just not upto the job on a E2 box.

in the end i had to fit a newer motor which was kindly supplied by silverfox otherwise i'd have ended up buying a new one such as a TM2600.

So is there anyway of sorting this with out a new moter as My dish is high up and it would mean me buying a new moter and paying to get it fitted. Would it be worth getting one of these vbox II things

I finally got the sats stored but am not sure were to go from here as when I do a auto scan 28.e as all of the channels from 19e on it and 19.e is blank

load a premade bouquet pack to the box such as vhannibal or cyrus cst.

the freqs on 19/28 east are more or less the same

if you have 19 east channels on your 28 east listings,...it means your dish was scanning 19 east, so your settings are 9 degrees out

if I try it on my motorised dish it cant find it if I stick it on my fixed dish it can

your saved position for 28 east is wrong, you need to nudge the dish east, untill you get a strong signal then save it...the current saved position is in fact 19 east,..so save it as 19 east, then move the dish east, find 28 east,..and save

Setting this up is stressing me out am almost ready to throw the towel in and get rid of it  .
[Its like trying to fit wooden flooring you pop one end in only for the other end to keep popping out ]
I install one sound ok every think works so then I move on to the next sat I might have a little problem with that so I leave it and do then next one but then when I go and check the first one its suddenly is not picking anything up  . I havent even had a chance to mess about with the box yet
