Hi, im running a duo with the vix image on it, now everything was working fine until i fitted a new 1tb hdd, now is sits on the boot mode [ loading ] yes if i hit the tv button on the remote i can get channels but im struggling to get a lot of HD channels, im getting some hd channels but im not getting any hd movie channels,[ but im getting sky sports 1hd or so i believe] all this seems to have come about after i fitted the hdd
Now going through the tut on how to initiliz the hdd, im getting it just sitting there and it seems to be doing nothing at all, but i do hear the hdd driving within the box, so i`m gueesing it has been initilized, as it does see the hdd in the initilizing section, it sees both the hdd and the usb, as i said everything was fine it booted no probs, but today i fiitted the new 1tb hdd to the box and fired the box up , and it just sat there and would not go past the loading part of the boot-up, where have i gone wrong, Cheers.....
I think best thing to do here is as follows: -
Disconnect HDD.
Backup current ViX image.
Flash official image.
Initialize HDD with official image.
Re-flash your backup of ViX image.

ok, i seem to have a problem now, my usb is not being see in the duo,[ have seen sicilian tut on how to install from a usb ] so here is a crash log, if anybody can understand it. cheers !!

That looks like an image manager crash.
FTP into the Duo, transfer your backup image to PC.
Format a USB stick FAT32 and prepare a usb stick for flashing using your backup image.
Flashing and initializing your HDD with the official image should fix your issue.
Yip its wiping my hd channels and need to re scan to bring them back, but everytime i hook up the hdd it tries to initializ it straight away and that seems to crash it,
Now in the harddisk set up, what is [ convert filesystem ext3 to ext4 ] as im not getting anything to initializ, as im trying a new usb and i get nothing telling me it has been initialized or filesytemcheckis showingnothing either, so is it a case of converting the filesystem to ext4 first ?? i have already formatted the new usb to ntfs on my lappy[ have tried fat32 first ] but still getting nothing when trying to initializ it on the box......
ok, got my hdd up and running now, i removed my cline for the image, reconnected the harddrive within the box, powered up the box, now straight away i hear the harddrive fire up, so i left it until it stopped running, i then went throught the tut made by xarqi, as the pli image is very close to the vix image when initializing a hard drive, there is no confirmation whats so ever when going through the set up, so i was listening to the drive itself, and waiting on the harddrive to stop driving through initailization & through filesysytem check, i then checked the recording paths, setting it up as xarqi has in it tut, hdd/movies/and then i recorded a channel, and low and behold there was my recording sitting in the recording list, i then re-installed my cline and got all my channels back....... another nice learning curve for me.....Cheers.....
ok, it seems i have got everything up and running properly, every time i do a restart, i lose my HD services, so i have to do a rescan to get the HD service back, now im wondering if this has something to do with the hard drive, everytime i do a rebood, the hard drive runs for about 1 minute, so this must be knocking something off & forcing me to do a rescan, can someone tell me if they do a reboot, do they hear the hard drive driving, or is there something is settings that im missing, Thanks....
I doubt if your channel list issues have anything at all to do with your disc drive. I could be wrong, but I think it is normal for the drive to spin up on a restart, and soon spin down if it is not required. If restarting means that you need to rescan, isn't the answer not to restart unnecessarily? About the only time my box is restarted is after a power outage; most of the time it just sleeps.
Hi m8, i was uploading new bouquets to the box, and [ i could be wrong here m8 ] i was restarting the box for the new configurations, does a sat box not need restarting when new services are uploaded ???? Thanks....
It can do but i just click on the reload settings. Never had an issue with losing HD channels apart from the every early days after a bouquet upload never a restart though. what are tuner settings?

The settings are not on the box, you click on reload when you transfer them using dreamboxedit.
Does the tunder say simple etc When on the tuner press OK

Am stumped as to why you lose the HD, try to upload Silverfox's bouquet as they are perfect for 28.2E and click on reload and restart engima and see how you go. Remember to enable "allow duplicates" in the options tab.

stanman m8, when i was trying to up load bouquets that i had worked on from dreamboxedit, i was not useing the reload channels on dreamedit, I was uploading bouquets and i then went to the box and did a restart, this is where i was loosing my HD channels, i noticed that when the box rebooted from the restart in the info bar down in the righthand bottom where the tuner A is located it was grey`d out, and i had no HD channels, so i would do a rescan and when the box rebooted and the info bar came back up, tuner A was not grey`d out and i had my HD channels back, anyway, NOW that i am useing the reload channels from dreamboxedit after uploading bouquets, i have had no problems what so ever m8...cheers...
