Can anybody provide me with the/a feature list of the VIX image? Was not able to find anything like that, and before I will bunk it into my receiver I would like some info on what I have to gain compared to the often ridiculed factory image....

it's not that the original image is ridiculed as such, it does the job it's meant to do albeit very basically. The major turn off for most people with the original images are that there not any where near as customizable as for example VIX or BH are.

I would say in my limited experience that the original image is a bit like a "Kia Picanto" and the ViX image is like a "BMW 5 series "M" Class".

The basic original image is ok for basic freeview opperation but bears no comparison to the mega amount of features and tweeks available on the ViX image.

Put it on your receiver and have a play with the various features / extras available for a few weeks you will not regret it, there is loads of support available on this site should you need it so do not be nervous.
