I got a feeling it could be too big. I'd personally go for a 1TB max, I think anything larger needs to have added partitions.

This HDD is SATAIII 6GB/s, not SATAII 3GB/s. I've never tested SATAIII on any VU+ or ET series. So would not like to guarantee that it will be compatible. Although it should be backwards compatible.

I think that the Vu duo can only take up to 2Tb.
It will not read a 3TB.
