Why does it take a lot longer to scan 28.2 than it does to scan 13 or 19e

why do you scan? i thought that vu uses enigma 2 and that you can update the file satalite.xml with latest from internet. then scan easy.
sorry english bad

satellite.xml is the transponder sata

you still need to scan to actually get the pysical channels

which is done by reading the satellite.xml file

All my experiences are the same as the OP. 28.2 takes at least double maybe 3 times longer than 19.2 or 13. for me 13e is a very fast scan and always has been whether using e1 or e2 machine.

just my two pence worth.

i have just performed a full scan of 28.2 east with my Uno and timed it along side of a blindscan.

the manual full scan took exactly 4 minutes and 22 seconds and found a total of 1049 services
on the other hand the blindscan took exactly 8 minutes and 15 seconds and found a total of 1053 services.

now thats hardly what i would call excessive or time consuming. i couldn't even make a cuppa in the time it took for a normal manual scan.

Well mate if mine only took 4m 22s then i'd be happy too.

on my box it takes nearer 20 mins, i will time it at some stage just to know exactly.

How strange, 28.2e has always taken about 15 - 20mins and as you say I can scan both 13 and 19 in that time.
We all seem to get the same amount of channels though

rite just got around to doing this.

loaded a new satellites.xml file to one of my TM600'S and did a full rescan of 28.2 east took 3 minutes 36 seconds using the same sky mini dish that my sky hd box is hooked up to.

ok just did the exact same tests with a DM600 using the same satellites.xml file as with the TM600 above and the same sky dish. this scan took 3 minutes 38 seconds.

So is there any way to copy the scan from one box to another? e.g I have 2 ET9000's one upstairs and one down connected to the same dish. Is there any way to do the 20min scan and then simply transfer the scan results to the other box?

thanks
CT

PS I know you can transfer the bouquets etc

The only way would be with a program such as dreambox edit. As you would a custom bouquet

I havnt actually timed a scan of the 28e but would mine take a little longer anyway due to me living outside the uk & recieving a little less signal strength? Maybe bad weather affects scanning eg a scan in really heavy rain as compared to one run in ideal blue sky conditions? Also, what about the size of parabol - a bigger one must capture more signal than a smaller one , so from my perspective, I would expect to scan more channels and the scan would take that little longer (have had that happen with one of the arab satellites - scanning using a 110cm, I found a few extra Dubai sports channels that wernt there earlier when scanning with my 78cm dish)
