Can advise me on what the correct settings should be for connection by LAN to my router
DCHP is off should I use a gateway? and if so what is this setting or how does one generate one?

U can leave dhcp on if u want an the box will automatically assign all the settings

Thanks should the nameserver have an IP address too as it comes up unconfimed when doing a network test?

Depending on your router, you can enable DHCP as it makes life easier and go into the settings page for your router and if possiable enable the VU to have a static IP address, that way box will always assign the same IP to it even after a reboot.

yes tried that but still unconfirmed nameserver and no network connection as the reciver ill not update.. all with DCHP unchecked

Are you saying DHCP is unchecked on the box?
If so need to enable otherwise you will need to put the settings into the box manually.

Try it with dhcp on, reboot receiver. U shud have a connection. then write the settings down and turn dhcp off and then put those settings in as u copied em

try rebooting your router after making the necessary changes.
