guys,

thinking about updating my motor. still using a diseqc from 8 years ago and fed up manuallly tuning in all the sats everytime i flash a new image.:(

I bought a complete setup a few weeks ago for one of my mates which included a TM-2600 (http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/DiSEqC-Motors-Positioners/TM-2600-Super) and I have noticed that a new supreme dark motor (http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/DiSEqC-Motors-Positioners/Alsat-Supreme-Intelligent-LED-DiSEqC-Dark-Motor-DarkMotor-All-Metal-Gears) is available.

Does anyone own these motors and can you confirm if they are any quicker / quieter / more accurate please? From reading up it appears thet the fancy display gadget may not be as accurate as it is meant to be.

Regards

Hi,
Am curently using TM2600 for the past 2 years. for me its accurate and the noise is relatively low.I dont have any regret for using it with my vu duo.

I have the supreme dark motor with LED & it is pretty accurate, although I have found that it really isn't of any use & it does tend to confuse matters if you are a newbie in setting up the system

It takes about 44 secs for the motor to turn from 30w to 28e using USALS, I'm not sure how this compares to the TM-2600 as I have never used this motor, as for noise you can hear it turning but the noise isn't excessive

I dunno how the supreme intelligent dark motor works, but I have the older dark motor. THink it was the first one he did, when first did a metal gear motor. And that works brilliantly imo. Just done a timer going from 30w to 28e, and it took about 30s, so dunno why above took 44s? Unless it's because this has had more wear? :p hehe. Going from 28e to 30w tho, did take about 5 seconds longer...

Just installed a supreme intelligent dark motor yesterday which i purchased from our site sponsor excellent service as always

its does seem to bit a bit faster than my now dead tm2600 very quiet and accurate the sat location lcd on top is just a gimmick to me as i will never be able to see mine :p

is it worth the extra money over the older model only time will tell

i also purchased a supreme dark motor from sponsor

excellent service

not installed it yet but will do soon

i think the lcd really is for installing it as you can manually set it to thor 0.8w get a signal and then you know you on the geostationary arc [clarke belt]

i remeber the old h to h motors how tedious it was to install them if you accidently moved them from teh factory set of 1w

I think it depends how exposed your motor is to the elements, personally i think any motor with metal gear will last a long while.

I have been playing with a 2600. It is quiet and more it important only cost £39. Having played with it, if you can set it up with the dish connected on the ground on zero. then move it 0.8 w. Put a jubilee clip on the pole to be used, before putting it on the pole, for the motor to sit on. Making easier to tighten the bolts, and ligning up the dish to Thor.
