Text converter from Windows to Linux - any clue?

    Dear all

I'm using the MP3 Brower plugin. For standard songs it detects the lyrics and integrates them. For unusual songs it does not and when finding the text on the web I create a text file with the extension .lyrics and push this via DCC FTP from my PC to the cache directory of the MP3 Browser.

However when the text has ä, ö, ü but also é ó or ç the characters are not recognised on the screen. I'm sure that this has something to do with the different character sets.

Do you have a clue how I could convert my windows text to unix characters and modify them so that they look fine on the MP3 Browser?

Thanks a lot for any hint

    Solution found:

When saving with Windows text editor the file was save with ANSI. However with "Save as.." I have the option to choose the character set UTF-8 and voilà - the French and Catalan characters with accents etc. show up how they should.
