[VU+ Ultimo] Qwerty keyboard, spinning VIX

On Wednesday I tried flashing my Ultimo to Apollo 26.
I had two problems with it: First, the qwerty keyboard at the back of the remote control doesn't work. I tried with the text support at the remote control code settings both off and on, and with both settings the qwerty keys didn't do anything.
Then I noticed the symbol for available updates flashing on the front panel, and used the online update. It didn't show any update information, but I used the button to do the update.
After the update was finished, the box started booting and showed the background image, but never got to the TV picture.
It just showed the spinninig VIX logo at the top left corner of the TV screen, changing it between two sizes. It looked like it was stuck in a loop somewhere.
I finally flashed back to Apollo 24 got the box working again. I'll probably stick with it until build 27 is released, unless somebody shows a solution to the problems above.

This is how I did the upgrade to build 26:
I copied the favorite bouquet, and the timers and /etc/enigma2/settings by first doing init 4 as instructed, init 3, flashed the image, scanned the services, installed plugins cutlisteditor, foreca, hbbtv, mediaportal, moviecut oscam and oscaminfo, did init 4 and copied the timers and /etc/enigma2/settings back and did init 3.
Noticed that I didn't get oscam running, it complained about missing /etc/tuxbox/config files.
I noticed that those files were not in any backup file I had, so I made an image backup, reverted back to build 24, copied the /etc/tuxbox/config directory to my computer, loaded back the build 26 image backup made before reverting back to 24, and copied the files from the computer to the Ultimo.
Then I got the oscam up and all channels showing. And THEN I noticed the qwerty keyboard not working and did the online update that ended up in the booting loop.

I have problems too in Venton HD3 on Apollo 026. Letters in remotes number keys don't work. I can't type the password of my wifi

I wasn't talking about the number keys, but the separate physical ALPHABET keys on the other side of the remote control.
With Apollo 26 my Ultimo didn't react to them at all, in any way, when I tested typing to a timer name field.
(Anyway, I find it a little confusing that the text support setting must be turned OFF to use those keys..)

We know there is an issue with alpha entry using the number keys on the timer and autotimer menu on the Venton and Miraclebox models. An updated driver in the next image release should resolve that.

However, wifi password entry can be done using the on-screen virtual keyboard. In the wi-fi setup menu you will see a "Text" icon (similar to the Menu and Info icons on other screens). If you press the Teletext button on your remote you will get the virtual keyboard on the screen. Works perfectly on my Miraclebox which uses a similar remote driver as the Venton.

Does it really fix the dead qwerty keyboard problem with Ultimo, or just the problem with entering alphabets with the numeric keys, that users of other receivers have encountered?

And for the spinning vix logo staying on the bootup waterfall background picture, reading other threads I have understood that it has often required updating the bootloader, but I haven't found any bootloader upgrade image for Ultimo, and nobody has replied anything about whether this is the problem with Ultimo as well or something else..

Anyway, I'll first check if the problems still exists with the new build 28. When I have found a suitable time slot to flash and setup from scratch, when I can dedicate enough time for it while it is long enough with nothing interesting in the TV..

@jukkal - no the fix posted is only for alpha entry with numeric keys on standard remotes. @Samzam had sort of hijacked your thread, but his issue was being addressed in another thread which is why I replied to him. As regards bootloader for the Ultimo, no I don't see one in the downloads, so assume it's not needed. I'm not familiar with your particular remote set up unfortunately.

I updated to Apollo 28 today, and the Ultimo still doesn't respond to the qwerty keyboard, so the issue still remains.
But at least I have so far not seen the booting problem with 28. I saw it flashing the symbol for available updates but didn't try the online update as it didn't show anything about any newer build.. I wonder if the update symbol flashes because I copied the /etc/enigma2/settings file that I used in build 26? (Using init 4 before copying and init 3 after copying the file to and from my pc, as has been instructed for copying the timer files)

..and build 29 still didn't fix this bug.

@jukkai - I haven't seen your issue reported as a bug anywhere, just the text entry on numeric keys on regular remotes which has been fixed. Anyone else with the Ultimo keyboard experiencing this issue?

Now I flashed to Apollo 30, restored the settings saved on the 3rd of September with Apollo 28, and still this bug remains.

I apologize for repeating myself, but now that I flashed to Apollo 32, this problem still remains. I tried again toggling the "text entry support" setting and it still didn't help.
The latest version where the qwerty keyboard has worked is still Apollo 24.

Now I online-updated from 32 to 35, and still the same thing, the box still doesn't respond to the qwerty keyboard.
It just occurred to me.. does the qwerty keyboard on the ultimo remote control need some extra plugin that isn't loaded by default?
Between Zeus and Apollo 24, I don't think that I had done full reflash WITHOUT loading settings backup with plugins list from the previous image I used. Originally I used an image provided by the Finnish dealer from whom I bought the box, and they also provided the first Zeus image I flashed, and until Apollo 34 I had always restored the settings and plugins from a backup.

So if there's some plugin that I should explicitly install, I may have missed it.

Its a driver issues that VU+ need to fix.

Is there any hope to one day get the qwerty keyboard working again in a new build?
Now I'm on build Apollo 54 and still the box don't react to the alphabet keys. Otherwise 54 seems to work as it should.
