IMDb Plugin - Download failed

Hello all

This plugin was working before i think maybe on 2.3 but but maybe 2.4 i can't remember.

Either way it doesn't work now.. Whenever i press the red button to 'Search IMDb' i get download failed.

I done a google search and there is a thread about this but it was back in 2011 and by the end of that thread the issue was fixed via an update to the plugin.

It's now 2012 and the problem for me of download failed is back although the actually issue might be different this time.. i'm wondering how many others this isn't working for that are on 2.4?

Is there anything i can do to fix this? or is another update needed to the plugin?

I updated to the latest vix today

It still works on 2.2.100 but not on 2.3.133.

Temporary Imdb fix

Using the attached plugin.pyo file I can use the Imdb plugin without receiving the "download failed" error. Try it if you want but by your own risk.

Transfer the file plugin.pyo file to the Imdb folder and replace the existing. Then restart the GUI interface. But please first backup your image or at least backup the original plugin.pyo file in the Imdb folder.

Do not transfer the attached plugin.py file. This file is only to show what is changed. The changes is in line 463 to 467. The line 463 is added and line 464 to 467 is commented out.

I do not know what has changed at Imdb web site causing tje plugin to fail. That is why the attached fix is only a temporary fix. I guess somebody with more skills have to find a better way to edit the code.

just press the red button twice from live tv to call up IMDB.

There's no need to if your using the latest image ( 2.4-151 ) as the fix is already in that image.

So i have to reinstall the image? When i check for updates it says there are none. i'm on 2.3 204

The ViX 2.3 series image is no longer supported, maintained or updated. you can either stay on that version image or upgrade to 2.4 the choice is ultimately yours, but as i said we wont be releasing any fixes or updates for 2.3.
