Remember reading about this a while back... As long as you use certain type of paint (iirc, it's the type of paint used to spray cars, that you get in the spray cans from local garage), and just apply thinish coats (i.e. just enough to cover it), then it won't affect the performance of dish... However, I'm not sure about if the colour you use affects it at all?!

Keep it matt don't use a gloss, use a scotch pad to get a key and rub down again between coats. Spraypaint from a DIY shop is fine as it's harder to find matt black in a car paint And do the dish before assembly it's just easier if you need to do the arm and rear saves overspray all over the brackets.

Just keep the coats light better to do 2 or 3 than do a messy single coat, also keep the can moving don't pause or try and focus on one spot just start at the top and move the can back and forth working your way down. I also find it easier with the dish layed flat rather than standing up.
