    a little help with rewards

    Hi guys,heres the thing,I've been a motorised sat guy for many many years and have always setup my own dish and other peoples.
    I am a retired independent satellite/TV store manager with hands on experience but this vu duo has bettered me,,,,the problem,,,I know that when on thor .8 w the diseqc motor pointer should point to almost 1 deg west but its pointing to around 2 deg east.

    normally I would setup the dish manually IE drive the motor to the 1 deg marker on the motor and swing the head until I receive thor then fine tune the dish,,,its worked for years this way but with usuals i have put in my long and lat and its convinced itself that thor is east ???

    long and lat is 50.9 + 2.69 ,,,,now you all know I live in Yeovil,Somerset and heres the thing I would be happy to pay some one local to me with duo knowledge to pop round and just check my settings and give some pointers...you wont get pestered for life ever after

    cheers chippy

    maybe could I just call

    or i am on skype keith.clark90

    Check that if you do a Goto 0 that the motor actually moves to exactly 0 if not try doing a motor reset on the motor itself.
    Try these settings for your location:
    Lat = 50 degrees, 56.8 minutes North
    Long = 2 degrees, 41.5 minutes West
    Make sure your longitude is set to West in the menu's

    thanks maxwell4321,
    yes the longitde is set to west but it came with east from new,the motor goes dead on zero with the goto command.

    not sure how to set to minutes though

    I will change the settings 50 deg +2deg in the morning
    by the way the settings I used are in the tuner/ simple section

    do you think it would be better to manually set the sats Rather than usuals

    thanks for you help

    Usals should be ok if you get the lat and long correct, minutes are set after the decimal point so longitude 2.41 would be entered as 002.410 and latitude of 50.56 would be entered as 050.560

    They don't have a contact number... You can email them (coded so that doesn't get tons of spam ):

    a l e x
    a t
    vuplus . com

    Obviously won't be straight away answer, so you'll probably get fast support from the members here...

    hi again and thanks for your support
    I just wanted a contact number for future reference,
    re-original problem of thor on the motor showing at 2 deg east rather than the 0.8 west position.I have been informed that it depends where i live as to where thor will be detected on the motor,so the farther east i live the farther round to east the usuals will place thor to the east ?,for years I have always set my motor at 1 deg and moved round the pole until thor clears oh well I'm sure some one will put me right here or alg elsewhere
    cheers chippy

    ,

    Whoever told you that is talking BS, the USALS system does not auto focus and is based upon a calculation using your Latitude and Longitude it does not need a signal to detect its position (remove the LNB link cable and you can still move to any sat position in the arc).
    I wouldn't place too much faith in the markings on the motor casing though as they are only a rough guide, tend to think ball park rather than accurate, if you have good tracking of the arc don't worry about it.

    Thats the way I do it then final tweaks with a spectrum analyser although last time I just used Enigmanoid on my mobile phone.
