Mutant HD51 New Owner- No Network Connection

    Hi everyone!

This is my first ever post to this forum :-)

A few days ago I took delivery of a mutant hd51 receiver. Since then I've been quietly setting it up. I successfully updated the software and downloaded a new skin. I also downloaded the latest oscam. Filezilla has been successfully communicating with the box. However, since yesterday I've been getting a message that 'your Mutant HD51 has no internet connection'. I've tried to reconfigure the network but I get the same message. As a result no further plugins etc can be downloaded. I've checked the ethernet cable to the router, and everything seems to be in order.

On adapter settings, I get a full list of the box ip address, subnet and gateway. However on network test I get the following result:

    LAN adapter LAN connection (green)
    Local connected (green)
    DHCP enabled (green)
    IP address unconfirmed (red)
    Nameserver confirmed (green)

Filezilla is still able to communicate with the mutant.

Any ideas from anyone would be really appreciated.

    Thanks for reading!

Resetting the Router/Hub would be my next port of call. (The pin hole reset button. Press and hold down for 10 seconds)

Try entering your own IP address from your dhcp range. Turn off dhcp and enter your own.

1- do as andy says first. once done let router boot up, once booted, shut it down from switch.
2-unplug the box from the router and reflash box via usb, as you were setting up as new. make sure you do a backup first, although I would not and just flash as you were setting up for first time . then switch box off.
3- connect all cables whilst router and box are off, then switch router on, let is boot up and then plug mains for box and let boot up and follow the instructions. somewhere the internet connection should appear, run it and finish process. once done the box will restart itself.
4- you can then setup the rest from there.

the other thing is are you using oscam and is it setup correctly?

If you're going to enter a manual IP address it should be one that is not in the DHCP range. You'll then also need to set the name server and router addresses.

    Thanks again guys!

I shall try to reflash the receiver with the latest openvix for the mutant 51. So off to get a USB stick for reformatting to FAT32. What do you recommend for reformatting or would first couple of google hits do fine?

@John I don't think I have a clue when it comes to oscam(!) but kind of enjoy the challenge. Was a hobbyist before in the days of the Humax5400 and its patches and dragon cam. Have kind of fallen by the wayside since then. Always loved the dx side of things and would love to get into things again :-)

Hi birdman. If your router has a dhcp range of 250 (1 to 250) then surely you have to manually assign within these ranges. Or am I miss understanding how dhcp works.
    Thanks.

You just restrict the automatic assigned IP‘s to a specific range e.g. 1 -> 100 and then you can use 101 and above for static IP‘s

On my BT Home HUB 6, the DHCP address range defaults to 192.168.1.64 thru' to 192.168.1.253, so it will automatically allocate IP's within this range.

If you allocate 192.168.1.64 as a static address to a box, DHCP could allocate that address to another device when the box is switched off, causing problems.

Static IP's are generally not a good idea.

Back to the original issue, I'm surprised Filezilla can connect to the box when it appears not to have an IP address assigned.

If filezilla can connect then the hardware and cabling is fine. A reflash should sort it out. Static IPs are the best way to go in any network but thats not the issue here.

    Really?

So you prefer 192.168.1.147 to \\box_name when accessing the device called box_name?

You are going off topic here - Thats nothing to do with static/dhcp addressing.

The OP was advised to try using a static IP address, and you appear to be advocating only using static ip addresses.

Not, in my humble opinion, the way to find out what has actually gone wrong.
