Question Strange Issue - Sometimes Movies folder is missing

    Hi,

On the odd occasion, the box (Mutant HD51) will start up as usual but the movies folder is empty (no previous recordings or folders are shown). A restart usually fixes this but I'm wondering why it happens. Any ideas?

EDIT: it looks like when this happens any recordings that are made are put on the USB drive that is permanently attached.

    Thanks

I've seen this on very rare occasions when the hard disk doesn't automatically mount on boot-up. Unfortunately I don't know the solution and haven't seen the problem for around 12 months.

... me too, my ET10K used to lose the hd very infrequently - I used to power off at the mains for 5 minutes after reflashing (that was when it was more likely to happen) to prevent it.

I stopped doing that ages ago and it hasn't gone missing since - I reckon the et10k kernel updates sorted it out a year or so ago.

Yes, it's a USB stick + internal HDD.

Can I ask why you have a permanent usb flash drive inserted when you have Internal HDD present?

I have some films on there that I took from another source. I can easily copy them to the HDD. Do you think this is causing the problem then?

Move the films from your USB flash drive to your HDD, then you can get rid of the USB then.
