I use Zen, less restrictions at present than the big providers.
They are also UK based and customer service was excellent when I had a line problem.

if you only going to get 17mb, you probably wont get all that full speed. research broadband reviews that the average person has posted in/for your area. when I was on BT 17mb, I was only getting a little over 3mb, until I went on their fibre, getting 74mb and about 18mb upload.

just do the research, otherwise you are stuck on a long term contract.

If you went with Sky broadband you would just disable the Broadband Shield, then you can access your porn fix then......... lol

If in the UK see whats available at you local telephone exchange (which suppliers may have their own equipment).

    Code:
    https://availability.samknows.com/broadband/
    Exchange Search

I personally use Zen via a BT phone line. Not the cheapest but reliable. in perhaps 10 years I've only had to use their technical support twice and found the satff to be very knowledgeable and don't "read from a script" (support may only be available 9 to 5, Mon to Fri).

Stay away from BT and Sky. I had nothing but problems with both of them. Customer service is shocking with BT, thats even if you can understand them. They will try and scare you off from reporting a problem by saying you may get charged £180+ if the issue falls within your properties boundary. They are a bunch of clowns.

I gave up with Sky after a few months as it was slow at the best of times and kept dropping out, although this may have been the crappy BT line it was coming down. They didn't want to know saying that there was not an issue, fortunately for me they increased their charges a few months in so it gave me a get out for free. Been with Virgin ever since, i started out with just 50mb which they have since increased to 100mb free of charge

No problems at all, i have been very happy with the service i get from Virgin.
