I gave up with Sky after a few months as it was slow at the best of times and kept dropping out, although this may have been the crappy BT line it was coming down. They didn't want to know saying that there was not an issue, fortunately for me they increased their charges a few months in so it gave me a get out for free. Been with Virgin ever since, i started out with just 50mb which they have since increased to 100mb free of charge

No problems at all, i have been very happy with the service i get from Virgin.
I have had the exact opposite experience virgin was terrible after 6pm went down to 1.5 mb ditched them after 12 months and went back to sky and had no issues as before. I can only have standard broadband but I’d rather have a constant 12.5 than the garbage speed I was getting from virgin in the evenings and weekends.

All ISP provide crap uploads. No one will get above 20mb uploads as that is what you are capped at.

I get a constant at about 5-6 mb upload with my VM 100mb/s package, but lets face it you download more than upload so upload isn't a major factor to most people.

I find the 5-6mb up quite sufficient for my needs. I always get at least 70mb down regardless of the time of day, although most of the time its over 100mb and unlike an ADSL (standard none fibre Sky & BT) connection it doesn't cut out when the phone rings.

I've been with BT twice and both times i've had nothing but problems and i have always had difficulty understanding the customer helpline staff due to the fact its always a bad line and the person on the other end of the line has a very strong accent. Couple the two together and its never going to work.

Sky was just constantly slow even though it was fibre and my property was only 20ft away from the cabinet. Its usually only Fibre to the cabinet with BT, Sky, Plusnet, Talk Talk and the like so if you have old cable between the cab/pole and your house its going to be rubbish.

Openreach very rarely replace the cable between the cab/pole and your property unless its damaged so bad infrastructure will always be a problem.

Poor old BT works just fine for me, can't comment on their customer services as I've never needed to use it.

I'm with sky fttc, up to 80mb in my village. I'm on their 38mb deal which i can say has run faultless since last august as Sky apparently use their own equipment in BT exchanges now for fibre . I was with them before (BT in between) and their connect broadband speed was very poor to non existence 6 months into my contract. I got the last 6 months of contract cancelled due to stating the broadband i was paying for was not fit for purpose. Problem was with my up to 18mb sky broadband connect (which runs over BT copper) is it uses BT equipment in the exchange and sky purchase bandwidth from BT( so i was told from a reliable source within openreach). i run iptv with a vpn and plex as well from 2 different subs and no problems with sky. A Vpn is essential nowadays to avoid to 3pm block
