    flashing image taking ages

    Hi,

I am currently trying to flash vix from 5 to 5.1.12 on to my solo 4k.
USB formatted to fat32, folder downloaded and unzipped.
Inserted in to rear USB port.

    powered on.

Pressed power button when instructed on display.

Started reading the USB, then says flashing image.

It has been stuck on that screen for about 15 minutes now.

It feels to me like its crashed. I am scared to power it down as the instructions say not to do that.

Can the flashing process sometimes take a while or has this gone wrong for me?

My Uno4k does the same it seems to flash but not boot. Only issue is there is no LCD display just blinking lights. Once it has finished the flashing process just power off and insert storage device (If using flash drive format it so it doesn't reflash) power back on and it should boot.

I'm not sure if this is standard procedure for 4k boxes.

Thankyou twol. I am still on 5.0.032, so it obviously didn't flash.
I see there are a lot of issues with some USB sticks. The one I have used is 4gb but not a mainstream company like Kingston.
Could anybody tell me if this is likely to be the issue?

My only other thoughts are to try and flash one of the earlier 5.1 standards. Could this be a new bug with the twelth instalment of 5.1 that anybody has noticed.
    Any thoughts welcomed.

    flashing image taking ages

You can’t software update from 5.0 to 5.1
You need to usb flash to latest image, which will be 5.1.012

So have managed to sort the issue. Thought I should post the end result incase anyone is reading this with the same issue.

The fix was using a new 4gb USB stick that I purchased. This time it flashed straight away from 5.0.032 to 5.1.012.

With the first usb stick the box got stuck at the flashing image screen.
When it flashed correctly this wording stayed on maybe 10 seconds and then changed to updating rootsys
The whole flash must have only taken 2 minutes.

Try to restart but power off and insert storage device (If using flash drive format it so it doesn't reflash) power back on and it should boot.

If it hasn't flashed depending on current image you can couch flash via image manager.
