    Usals et8500

    Hi,

Recently got an ET8500 and a motorised dish installed, all worked great - then i decided to try some different firmwares on my ET8500.

I appear to have messed up the USALS entirely now, as when i set the positioner to 19.2 it picks up channels on 28.2 (when i scan it finds UK channel 4 etc).

As getting to the dish is a complete nightmare, are there any options to put this right without having to get up to the dish and re-set the 0 point?

Could this really have happened by installing different firmware? Or have i done something else to break it?

I am now using the latest openvix for my box, which is what i was previously using before I messed it up - I tried to install OpenPLI in between times, but didn't like it as much.

I've set up the tuner correctly, correct long/lat (double and triple checked) and reset to factory settings after setting the dish to 0.8 Thor (which i managed to find by setting to 9/10W!! and finetuning) - but still goes to 9 degrees out everytime.

It worked absolutely perfectly before i messed with it.

    Many Thanks

    Andrew

Are you sure that the dish was physically setup to use USALS?

well it was working perfectly using usals before - my satellite engineer never touched my box, just set the dish to point south.. and i put in my coords on the box when i received it and it worked perfectly first time, after i changed firmwares it broke.

There is nothing wrong in the firmware.

What do you mean by this?

Issue this command, upload the mytunerconfig.txt file to this post

    Code:
    cat /etc/enigma2/settings | grep config.Nims > /tmp/mytunerconfig.txt

i also used usals long ago on other boxes and as memory is poor i wrote down my settings if needed in the future into my tm manual.
    also checked here.

Its a bit rough but you could just change the co-ordinates in USALS so its off by 9 degrees

Not exactly elegant but it would work. If you change your image it shouldn't cause any issues providing you put the same co-ordinates in as you had before. I constantly change my images and use different receivers on my motorised dish and providing i put the same settings in it works perfectly every time.

how far off would i need to correct an ~9 degree error?
change my current 0.9E to something like 9.9E or does it not work like that?

OK, the config seems fine. I suspect your dish is not aligned correctly for USALS.

Have a look at the Vix manual for setting Dish without USALS.

Pretty much in that way, You just add or subtract the error from the settings.

I have had to adjust mine like that in the past usually only by a few degrees at most until i've had a chance to re-align the dish if its been knocked out by high winds.
