Cannot unmount hdd, or initialize.

i want to wipe the hd due to my epg issues (another story) - anyway - even after disabling timeshift and restarting, no recording running obviously, nothing in the pipeline - its still not initializing.
When i try it says "error: umount: can't unmount /media/hdd: Device or resource busy.

then tried to unmount in mount manager - and it said
"can't unmount the partition, make sure it is not being used for swap or record/timeshift paths"

tried a factory reset - still the same result.

what am i missing?

The cheat is to add a USB device, change timeshift, EPG and recording to point to it. Reboot, then try again.

Are you willing to flash latest image?

Doesn't matter - i just flashed latest VIX version and now i can umount/initialize.

Are you doing a manual filecheck or using the system menu filecheck? If manual, then maybe stopping enigma might be advised. By the way, this is a 5 year old thread, so maybe starting a new one with your specific issues might be better?

You probably have done this, but after you have stopped recordings, logs etc from using the hdd, you need to reboot and ensure everything is using the usb including the ViX plugins.
Also check mountmanager to ensure that the usb is assigned to hdd

I managed to do the file check by doing the following:

Changed everything that was pointed to hdd --> usb
- logs
- recordings
- plugins
- timeshift
- epg

Then restart

Stopped network services
- Samba
- FTP
- NFS
- Telnet
