Tune fails when trying to record 3 things from timer

    Hi clever support peeps,

I've got a MiracleBox Premium Twin Plus with 3 x Si216x (DVB-T2) for UK Freeview. All tuners are working.

When 3 recordings start from timers I get tune failed. After that I have to reboot the box in order to get reception back.

Channels I selected - Pick, More 4 and 5 USA. Set the box to be on BBC1 HD before the timers.

Seems to work when going to each channel in turn and pressing record indefinitely.

Attached a log - I've truncated to the part where the test timers start but can post in full if helpful.

Went back to 4.1.016 (previous image) and this scenario is fine and I get a nice helpful message saying the current service has been changed.
As far as I can tell the tuner configuration is the same in both set ups.

Hope this helps squash a pesky bug .

i would presume all these channels are on a different transponder and if so may limit you in recording,if 3 are on the same transponder recordings should work.?
have you got all those working channels? thinking of channel movement.

If you have timers that execute in standby, then I would expect it to work,
If you are actually watching a channel, then it depends on whether you are using a transponder that is also being recorded.

Sorry! I've just noticed the software version I chose is completely wrong!!! I thought I copied this from Webif but somehow it's wrong. I was actually on 5.0.024. I'm going to try editing the title.

    In answer to replies:
Yes all 3 channels are on different muxes but I have 3 tuners so it should work.
If watching another channel on yet another mux then the box has to either show a blank screen or change to one of the recordings. Version 4.1.016 does this with a polite message.
What 5.0.024 does is show tune failed. After that no channel can be tuned even after stopping recordings so it would seem something is going wrong.
The debug log shows some strange tuning messages which somebody in the know may understand.
For the moment I am back on 4.1.016 but am hoping to get more up to date.

I've just tried this on my ET10K with 3 T2 tuners (Si2169's) and it works fine.
Switching live tv message because of timer event is shown.
Tried with green+green on live programmes via epg, and also future timers.
Also works with 4th SundTek usb T2 tuner enabled.
    On 5.0.024.

Thank you ccs for testing this out on your set up.
So sounds like my box may have a driver problem then?
Will have to stick on the old firmware then until I buy a new box

    More testing.
    OpenATV - fails.
    OpenPli4 - fails.

    Back to OpenVix 5.0.025.
If I disable one of the tuners and obviously set just 2 timers then it works as expected.
So it seems having 3 tuners is the problem.
Don't know if that is a useful clue?

I think there was a MB driver update about 7 months ago, issued after your working 4.1.016 image.

Do you mean that update broke it or I need it to fix this?

I have swapped one of the DVB-T tuners out for a DVB-S and doing an automatic scan. I am really impressed that the software understands there are 2 different sources - very clever!

... just trying to find an answer, if it is a driver issue, then it'll need fixing by MB, but 7 months is a long time for the problem to go unnoticed.

Maybe it's just coincidence, and there is a subtle problem with your settings.

Ah interesting. I guess it depends how many people have my box with 3 tuners and who have updated recently.

I have done a fresh install without changing any settings apart from setting up tuners and ABM. That may mean I haven't set something that perhaps I should of course.

I did report a problem back in January (http://www.world-of-satellite.com/sh...nd-now-4-2-028) so maybe that is linked with this one?

On these more recent images whenever I do an ABM scan after auto scan it fails quite often with either tune failed or something like tune lock timeout. After many retries it eventually works but then I get tune failed until I do another auto scan. All very odd.

... it doesn't look like the problem you referred to in January was ever resolved?

No, I just kept trying each release. Recently it started being able to tune again and I thought all was fine. Then the box would fail to record and I finally narrowed it down to when I had 3 auto timers kick in on 3 channels that were on separate muxes. I then bought 3 DVB-S tuners to see if that would fix it but being a novice on satellite I didn't realise I would need 3 separate feeds.
Do you know if I should contact MB support myself or do the developers of Openvix do that if they think it is a driver issue?

You could try another Image like OpenPli or perhaps OpenATV and see if they have the same issue..... OpenPli is not part of the OE-A so would be a good alternative to test.

I tried openpli-4 this morning and has the same problem - I also didn't like it as much as openvix
I tried openatv before and that had the same sort of problems although not specifically tested this scenario with 3 timers.
