    FTP Sf4008

    Hi all.
    Newbie here.
have a new sf4008 with a driver issue.
How do you install a new driver, using FTP ?
I can get into my sf4008 via my PC and can see loads of files on OpenWebif, just don't know how to add the driver..

You need to explain further the issue.
Each image comes with embedded drivers for that receiver.
If there is a driver update, then it will be incorporated into the next release of that image.
Unless there is a really good reason, you don't try replacing drivers.

All 4 k receivers seem to have a driver issue with canal digitaal (dutch tv) cards and cams
We primarily watch dutch tv ( I am that one person in the U.K. who uses an official card and cam)
There is a test driver from octagon, which may not be on an image update for ages.....if it works......

They are referring to adding a file:-

    FTP: file linuxtv.ko to lib/modules/4.1.37/

I honestly don't know how to do this....

I can access the sf4008 via openwebif and view various files via my pc......can't find this particular location + don't know how to copy a file from downloads on my pc, to a location on my sf4008....

Do you have the file? How old is it?
    FTP to lib/module/4.1.37/extra

But if you dont know what you are doing and the driver is not valid with the current kernel, it will likely screw the image

If there is a kernel driver mismatch, it will not brick. It just wont boot. You can flash an image again.

You will need to stop enigma2 with an "init 4" command first. See here
    http://www.world-of-satellite.com/sh...Linux-commands

You need to read up on FTP. Here is a guide for transferring picons. Process is the same, just different files and locations.

Please remember, replacing will maintain file attributes. Deleting then transferring will not. If you are going to backup/save/rename the original files, note down the file attributes first.

    Thanks for the information guys.

    Just installed Putty and Filezilla
"Init 4" stopped the enigma 2 then I transferred the file to the correct location......before restarting

The new driver works but unfortunately hasn't solved my problem...

Thinking of taking a crash course in softcams and seeing if thet works..........or using the new sf4008 as a door stop ..
    Glad I haven't sold my Vu+ solo 2.....

then make sure you feed back to Octagon the results, maybe they can still fix your issue.
Hope you have better luck .....
