Not just FBC cable, but hybrid C/T2 FBC.

Yep, noticed ... but I am more keen on some of the software requirements being met ..... having said that the box is dead solid and meets all my needs in my lounge and acts as my C/S server without issues.

I have spent ages finding out what for me is the ideal receiver, I decided on the Gigablue 4k. The UHD UE is a bit more suited to my needs due to size and less bits added. But i could wait ages for that and decided I may as well spend the extra and go for the 4K quad. Many thanks for "twol" for the information he has provided, thus helping me to decide.

    Thanks.
In the past, Gigablue haven't had a wonderful track record on some of their receivers, so I have tried to be dead honest with my comments. So for me it was a gamble, but I wanted to try out FBC tuners.
So far I am happy with the receiver, but then I don't need CI+, HBBTV, Kodi .. which is an issue for some European users especially here in Germany.
In fact if they provide multiboot like the HD51, I will be pretty happy .... they are kind of half way there as they use one of the EMMC partitions for recovery mode.

So far Gigablue/Impex have been really responsive in fixing any receivers with faulty LCD screens, the only hardware issue that I am aware of since FCS.

The thing is that if there really is a possibility for C/T2 FBC tuner, I would like to have one for my Ultimo 4K.

So "so far" its selling enough for them ... in many ways I have to admire (apart from the non response) this typical small German company that establishes a brand, and product in a niche market.
Maybe a mistake in doing batches as there always appears to be a stock shortage. I was thinking of buying one but I am in no rush whilst I see what else is on the market. But I have a nephew who asked me for advice on a good box, he liked the Gigablue 4K, good receiver? yes I said. Now he is ordering the Dream 900 4K as he had DM before. Tells me he is weary of waiting for Gigablue with no response to emails.

Is there any news on the cable version of this twol? I just ordered the Octagon last night but if the gigablue is due in the next few weeks I might just wait.

    1) both the Giga UHD 4K & the UE 4K (due November 6) have a twin C/T2 tuner .... not FBC
    2) Octagon are on the brink of announcing an Octagon 5008 - Its on their WEB site as OCTAGON SF5008 4K UHD E2 ENIG4MATIC but no picture or details
From whats been added to the OE-A and OpenATV web sites, expect more like the Giga 4K with Kodi, HbbTV, FBC tuner, blindscan etc

GB UHD Quad 4K was due over 1 year before it actually got released.

The SF5008 is going to a high spec receiver more in the price ranges of the VU+ Ultimo 4K.

Details on the SF5008 are sketchy at best, but i see the machine has now been added to the OE core.
Looks like both of these gigablue's above will not be getting FBC cable tuners, i waited over a year for them but the lack of FBC cable has stopped my purchase.

Is there any other box other than the crazy priced Ultimo that offer's both FBC sat and cable tuners ??
I only need one of each where FBC would give you 8 conventional tuners... multistream on the sat tuner would be great as well, but not a must.
    TIA

Well it looks like the SF5008 will have the same chip as the Giga4K, but haven,t seen anything about cable other than normal tuner.
Unlike the UK, many European countries (like Germany - probably the biggest sat receiver market) are still not big cable users (you just have to look at all the Sat dishes on every house and apartment) .... so FBC cable is not a big need and can be met by normal cable tuners.

Well, perhaps you could provide some more information on what you think is wrong??
My box works really well, is fast compared to the HD51 and with the updates in the last 3 weeks provides features like a true multiboot that I value.
Kodi? HbbTv? are not something I need.

So far they have done pretty well compared to Vu+ and Octagon or do you just like ranting

Well let me give you an example of VU+ 4 K receivers. Possibility to make scrambled CI+ recording without unscambling. And then do unscramling with CI+ module during standbymode afterwards. Need VTi or BlackHole image to do that.
