twol posts contain info on the Gigablue 4K. I am still undecided as I am not that fussy about fbc tuners.

Gigablue little out of my price range to be honest. Think I'm edging the octagon but the mutant is a close second anybody got both boxes and can give an assessment of both?
What are fbc tuners about?
Not 100% clued up, as been out of the sat scene for a while, but from what I gather, they are a new type of tuner, that allows up to 8 frequencies to be received from the satellite per tuner, so you effectively can view more channels at the same time...
However, for this to work, you will need a new LNB that is FBC enabled...

Seen the ultimo and that's defo out of my price range. To be honest ive had a skybox f5s for years so any box I get will be a major upgrade I'm thinking of the mutant just to test the water and coz I got a lot to learn to be fair my knowledge is limited I had the old box set up from googling it. Will the mutant be similar to set up and run?
To be honest when it comes to watching I am happy with one channel at a time whilst I record one more mutant is capable of that with one cable feed isn't it? Also when it comes to HDD is there a difference in running an external apart from it sitting on the shelf with the box?
With one cable tuner, you can watch/record from one frequency. If you want to watch a channel on one frequency and record a channel on another frequency, you will need two tuners.
So on the mutant hd51 it has twin tuner with optional tuners I'm going to run cable so can I have one tuner sat and one cable and still record? Or do I need to have both the same?
A tuner gives you access to a frequency. It does not matter if you are viewing or recording, you are accessing/using the frequency.
If you have one sat tuner and one cable tuner. You can view/record one cable frequency and view/record one satellite frequency. The moment you want to use two frequencies on satellite or two frequencies on cable, you will find "no free tuner messages".
So when I order the mutant hd51 I need to get two cable tuners?
If you get two cable tuner cards, how will you watch/record satellite?
As mentioned earlier, consider these:
TM Twin 4K with two cable tuners and a satellite tuner.
SF4008 with twin Cable and also a satellite tuner (technicalities not mentioned)
You need to order what meets your needs. Best to ring the seller and talk to them about your needs.
I'm only going to run cable
If you will not be watching satellite, the Mutant HD51 with two cable tuners will be fine.
