What is best for my old Vu+ Ultimo?

I recognise my box is now long is the tooth and I am wondering if I should go back to an earlier image. I am on the latest image and noticing some stalling and glitching when doing an EPG update for example. I was previously advised that my box can't cope with a Kodi plugin. Would moving to an earlier image reduce the load on the processor and thus avoid some of the glitch problems I am experiencing? I know the better option is to purchase a new box but I am hoping to delay that decision for a while given the current issues!! Cheers

The Vu+ Ultimo is not one of the receivers that can run Kodi so some sort of hack maybe. I'm not surprised its running like a dog. Also you say delay buying a new receiver given the current issues. You mean losing Sky? They won't be coming back.
Back to your main topic, reformat the Vu+ Ultimo with the latest ViX image and setup as new and keep things to a bare minimum, so just have ABM, CrossEPG and maybe a different Skin, nothing else, it is an old receiver by todays standards (was great in its day), I have the Vu+ Ultimo 4K and thats just WOW.

Thanks Andy. Following our last exchange I did a "fresh" install. Strangely not all the channels suffer the same level of stalling! I tend to avoid mentioning Sly but you are correct. The only non essential extra is the fan plugin but can't see that causing a problem. Would changing to an SD skin help? My box has been awesome until this year but a new box may be the only solution, I thought there would be a flood of secondhand boxes for sale. My fear of clones and desire to support W-of-S would remove that option anyway! I will try another fresh install and see if that helps. Thanks again. F

More like a flood of people cancelling their Sky subscription. People buy these boxes to get away from crap Sky boxes. For people that just wanted to get pay channels for free there were much cheaper boxes.

The logic is impeccable but reality may differ. We will find a solution I am sure. F
