First Box 4K or HD? £230 limited....

Hi been looking for my first receiver as I wish to upgrade from my Minix U9-H android box.

I've been looking at the 4K receivers and with budget in mine top end would be the Vu+ Uno4k with the Mutant HD51 not far behind.

I did read that WoS has the new Octagon SF4008 in stock mid July which is a similar price range to the mutant but newer.

So what manufacturers looks after there boxes the best as the specs for all 3 are not to far apart...

PVR built in is not important and it's mainly for the front room with consideration to two bedrooms at a later date?
Using sky dish with quad lnb replaced in due course.

Thanks all advice, hints and tips welcome

What are you wanting it for, just for FreeSat as you can no longer view Sky Premium channels on an e2 receiver?

All 3 are decent boxes, imo HD51 and Sf4008 more versatile that Uno4k.

HD51 vs SF4008("newer by about 6 weeks!" - both were available in Europe long before UK): had both and I would go for the Mut@nt. Same chip, same "potential" features, but Mut@nt quietly get on and provide them, Octagon promise a lot, talk a lot, but slower to deliver.
Octagon has a better remote, and power switch at back, but otherwise ...Mut@nt.

The Mut@nt HD51 is a fast box & also has Kodi so you are best going with that one out the 3, as it also has capability for an internal HDD.

Sky is a dead Duck on e2 receivers. No chance of getting Sky Premium on e2 boxes now & I can't see any light at the end of the tunnel either. But more to viewing than 28.2 if you have a motorised setup.

The majority of Enigma2 boxes support IPTV and the mutant hd51, Octgaon and Edison OSMega all contan Kodi plugin. I can recommend the OSMEGA as use it 24/7 , for twin freesat, single freeview plus IPTV

Depends on how many channels you want to watch/record and how much change you are willing to undertake in your setup to use FBC (which can be as minimal as changing the LNB)
FBC gives depending on LNB/Unicable switch/receiver tuner, 4 plus tuners, where 4 plus is normally around 8.

Do I think it's worth it ..... maybe! Apart from cost issues, I find in my setup, that I get signal loss and slower channel change between a Unicable setup and a normal "Legacy" configuration.... using the same receiver tuners.

So apart from the fact that I like to try "stuff", I am in the not convinced boat, still think its a solution looking for a problem to fix!

Cheers I'll keep it simple for now and consider the FBC on my next box after I've changed the dish and lnb from the current sky setup....
