Miraclebox Micro or Edison or Mutant

    Hello All,

Hope you are all well? (I've not been here for a long time!)

I bought a Miraclebox Micro last week and it is a very good box. My brother in law wanted it and I gave it to him . . .

I now want to buy another box from our Forum Sponsor and was looking at the Edison Combo (£99) or the Mutant.

I really liked the remote of the Miraclebox and it is a very good bargain at £79! Should I buy that again or have a twin tuner (cable and satellite) receiver? Are the Edison and Mutant boxes fast to boot up? (From your experience). The Micro boots up within a few seconds but I was thinking of getting a dual tuner receiver if they are comparable.

Unfortunately, my budget is £100, I know at the end of the day it is my personal preference.

    Thank you,
    Sanj.

If you go on the remotes then forget the Edison & the Mut@nt.

    Hello Andy,

Okay, point taken Forget I mentioned the remote . . .

Are the processors as fast on the Edison/Mut@nt as on the Miraclebox. Is it worth paying the extra £20 for an additional tuner?

    Main requirement is Cable . . .

I have a VU+Uno for satellite and as I have a dish already, I thought it might be useful to have a satellite tuner (but not essential). It just means the dish and cables will be redundant if I just get a cable receiver. I really liked the speed of the Miraclebox and it is very noticeably faster than the VU which I bought in 2011! so understandably so.

There are a few free Indian Channels on satellite that are not cable. Will I be compromising speed over losing a few channels that are still free on satellite . . .

Because you are limiting yourself with regards your budget then the OS Mini Combo is your best bet >> http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/...-t-t2-dvb-s-s2
But the remote is awful. lol

I don't find the Edison remote bad at all.
Certainly a lot better than some other manufacturers.

For your information we've found these the remotes to be most reliable. Latest Mutant remote supplied with current models we've had maybe 1 or 2 returned faulty many, many Mutant receivers sold. Significantly lower than many other brands.

For your budget if you want a Combo go with the OS Mini Combo. Mutant with this tuner spec will have to be the HD51, above your budget.

If you can stretch to £139 we'd recommend the Xtrend ET7500 Combo http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/..._category=true

ET7500 have a nice front display and internal SATA HDD facility.

I was just going on comments made on the forum with regards the remote. The receiver itself comes highly recommended.
