HDD not going into standy mode

    Hi,

I have tried to research this issue but nothing I've read has worked yet.

I have recently bought an Edision os mini dvb-c single tuner from WOS.
I have it all set up and working as required except for 1 issue.

The HDD does not go into standby either when the box is on or in standby (the HDD does turn off when box is in deep standby)
I have set the standby time to 10 secs, but it just stays on forever it seems.
I have logs disabled but that didn't change anything.
It is a 250gb portable usb drive and it used to go into standby when used on my previous (non linux) technomate box.

Please could someone help me to gt this to work as I don't want it to be spinning all the time.

    Thanks

That value seems very low, the default is 5 minutes, I assume that doesn't work either?

Yes, I have tried many variables between 10 secs and 1 hour but the HDD never goes to standby.

I have tried it mounted and not mounted, always the same result.

I'm still having this issue, very frustrating.

Would the file system make a difference to this? I think it's NTFS currently.

The HDD needs to be Ext 3/4.
