    Not A Good Marketing Move.

The gable end has been repaired and my dish is back up so now its time to replace my Atemio. Great box with the HD Freaks image but I want a new toy to inspire me despite the Atemio only having 6 months actual use. I have a mate who has a Gigablue 4K on order but he is getting annoyed with the continual delays. I liked the specs of the Gigablue and the price is good, even decided on buying one but, the delays makes me think they are running around in circles and no replies to an email I sent makes me think why bother. Now I am pondering on the Octagon SF4008 4K Twin, not so many bells and whistles but I ask myself, do I need 2 CI slots, several USB ports and FBC tuners. Never had Octagon before but it appears they are on the ball as a company.

Gigablue 4K shipped today from main dealer....should have it by weekend (Another Catholic holiday here in Bavaria).
A whole splurge of updates have been hitting the OE-A over the last week, so hopefully it should run well... we will see!

Octagon SF4008? Nothing wrong with the box (excellent picture), but they have been slow in providing promises. If you need DVB-S2X then its the best deal (an AX/Mut@nt HD51 Ultra with these tuners comes June 2017 (they say))

Mut@nt HD51 apart from the remote which is not as good as the Sf4008, is also an excellent 4K receiver, and although Mut@nt don't promise a lot they keep delivering, with updates, Kodi etc.
Also has multiboot integrated which is nice (not with ViX image)
    Gigablue Quad 4K & UE 4K
    .........FBC Tuners:
    ------------------> DUR-Line DCR 5-1-8-L4 Multiswitch to 1.5M dish(28.2E)
------------------> Spaun SUS 5581/33 NFA Multiswitch to 80 cm dish(19.2E)
    .......................> FBC & DVB-S2X into 90cm dish (27.5W) Opticum robust Unicable LNB
    AX HD61, Edision Osmio 4K+, Zgemma H9Combo, Octagon SF8008 , gbtrio4k, h9se using Legacy ports on multiswitches
    Zgemma H9 C/S into Giga4K

Must admit the Gigablue 4K looks like a nice well thought out box. The price, considering the specs is a winner. I have seen the Mut@nt HD51 and it may perform well but it appears to have been built at a price that will sell. I will wait to see how my mates Gigablue 4K performs, I don't mind spending but I hate having "if only I had waited" thoughts.

I would agree, but so is teh Octagon
The GigaBlue 4K on paper looks good ..... just seen the list of what's delivered today and working vs to be fixed and planned (a longer list ) and at this stage of the box looks OK....... at least there seems to be ongoing communication between some people.
By Monday, I might have a different view .... but with my wife going away on business will be able to concentrate on it.

Look forward to your opinion. What more could you possibly want? A nice new receiver, wife away and total freedom to tinker day and night.

A mixture as you would expect of driver required changes to support some missing announced features (PiP, bluetooth) plus direct issues (eg an hour ago they fixed a UHD issue with driver update), European requirements (eg CI+ works, HbbTV doesn't),..... Kodi ...
.. and of course the biggest one .. getting rid of the need for the multiboot plugin

Apparently not a big fan of Gigablue. Enlighten me as your comment may have an influence on my next purchase. Although I realise some people dislike a certain make for purely personal reasons. i.e Never buy German since my wife ran off with the German sun bed sprinter when we were on holiday.

Me? Biased? GB initially had some real bad issues (tried to imitate the specialists at this .. Vu+), so for me this is untested waters. .. but so far the comments on early tests indicated the basics work, unlike the 1st Vu+ 4K box that was at best an early test bed for the new technologies .. which some people were willing to pay big money for.
.... so me I will wait until I test it whilst my German wife is away working..... so not biased against anything German

Not sure what happened there but I was intending to reply to Rossi 2000 therefore my apologies if it has been posted as a comment regarding yourself. I obviously replied to you instead of Rossi 2000.

I trawled the internet for reviews on Gigablue 4k and they are on a par with VU+ 4K without the VU+ higher price. As always there will always be some diehards who will always believe one make is better than another but I await you review. I guess it depends on what you want but I am unable to justify the high price of the Ultimo 4K as much as I like it, although many often believe if it costs more it must be better

VU+ Solo4K not at similar price to the Gigablue model http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/VU-Plus-Solo-4K

Solo4k is very good tried and tested receiver imo.

The Gigablue UHD Quad 4K has much more built in features than VU+ Solo4K which i would put on a par with the GigaBlue UHD Ultra UE 4K.
The Gigablue UHD Quad 4K is similar to the the VU+ ultimo 4K but at a lower price. We will have to wait for more reviews to see the pros and cons of both boxes.
