is there a Sly Q lnb guide if u have enigma 2 1080p boxes, advice needed

I am in the process of leaving Sly and have given notice. However they have thrown a very good retentions deal at me and it also includes a Sly Q box.
I currently have a few linux (not 4K) boxes scattered around the house, all hanging off my octo-LNB

My question is this, if they come and setup a Q box, does that mean the lnb is swapped? I don't know how introducing a Q box will impact on my sat feeds for my current receivers around the house. has anyone found a way through this type of scenario

is there any kind of how-to guide for linux box users or a list of gotchas/be aware of, if you are upgrading to Q.

Yeah the LNB will be swapped. You'll need to ask the engineer to put the Hybrid one on. They won't put the Hybrid one on by default, so you need to ask the engineer/installer when you have it fitted.

If you tell them they normally install a hybrid lnb but that wouldn't have enough ports so I would tell them to install a separate dish unless they supply hybrid lnbs with multiple ports

I got an unbelievable sky deal earlier this year and on installation they fitted a new Q lnb with a mini dish. The lnb is incompatible with enigma so I replaced the lnb with a hybrid one which I got on an auction site. Just swapped the lnb. I now have a Q box and uno 4k connected to the same lnb and still have two free connections left on lnb.

when members talk about a hybrid lnb, is that a reference to the lnb having 2 types of output? i am making the presumption 1 output for 4k and 5 of the normal dvb-s2 type,

    is that right?

i just want to make sure i am asking for the right thing (and i know what it is i am asking for).

A Hybrid LNB has the wideband LNB ports for use with a Sky Q receiver. It also has the universal/conventional LNB ports for use with non-SkyQ receivers.

Think of it as electric/petrol and hybrid cars.

You've got two connections for the twin cables which go to the sky q box and 4 conventional ports which go to the enigma tuners

also can anyone offer their experience with using Sly unlimited fibre broadband. I am currently on Vermin 100meg (and a landline) and although its consistent and reliable, its not cheap.

Sly have made me a tv retention offer which includes swapping to their unlimited fibre but i have no idea about their service reliability , especially if i am relying on it so i can make full use of the features of Linux boxes.

Go back to your present broadband supplier and tell them your leaving and tell them what sky are offering. I would be surprised if they didn't match it or better it.

yeah but does that mean i "shouldnt" go near sly fibre, i realise vermin will probably want to offer a retention offer but long term now that a lot of channels have gone dark on 28e i prefer all my eggs (basic tv-broadband-phone) in one basket. not split like it has been for 5-6 years

Sky Fibre is like marmite. You'll either love it or hate it. lol
My Bro hated it as it was unreliable, but a friend of mine loves it with no issues. Luck of the draw I guess.
