Usb Connected Hdd Could Not Mount

Hi Everyone, I had been trying to transfer files from a 3Tb internal Hdd in Et10k to a 5Tb external Hdd through Usb connection. I go to Blue Button>Vix>Mount Manager, it only show the 3Tb internal Hdd.
    Please help
    Thanks very much

What format is the 5Tb disc, and I assume it has its own power supply?

Hi CCS, thanks very much for your quick reply!
Yes, it has its own power supply and is in Ext4. I had no problem using it previously.
    Best Regards

Can you plug anything else (spare USB stick?) into that USB socket to see whether it is seen (you don't have to format it, just check whether the hardware is available)?

Hi Birdman, it is working alright, only 2 days back I done a totally new installation of the image and without restoring any backup. I tried to mount the external hdd, still can’t. In fact, I also did tried on all other Usb terminals but still fail.

None of which actually checks what happens when you plug a USB stick in.
All you are reporting is a 5TB disk that can;t be seen - it could be that he 5TB disk is non-functional in some way.
Can you plug that 5TGB disk into a PC (or similar) and check whether it is seen by that?

I did a new complete flash with no restoration of the settings from the backup that was created with a Usb stick and is working fine. My Pc is in Windows Os which would not be able to detect it. But I had tried the 5Tb Hdd on other stb and is it detected and mounted. I use this Hdd once a while when my Stb’s internal Hdd when full, to backup all the timer recorded files.
    Please help
    Thanks very much

It would. It wouldn't be able to mount the file-system, but that's a separate issue. It would show up in the device manager as a disk device (you might even be prompted to format it - not sure what MS Windows does in such cases).

But I had tried the 5Tb Hdd on other stb and is it detected and mounted.
Have you done that since it failed to be seen by your box.
I'm trying to get some confirmation that it is working now - not just that it was working at some point in the past.

Could you copy off the file /var/log/dmesg.log or /var/log/messages (or boh) from the system (with the 5TB disk actually plugged in to the system) and post it here?

    You have to zip it.

Anyway, it shows that you system can't see the USB drive at all.
Which is why it would be helpful if you could put a USB stick into the USB slot on the running system and check that it is seen.

Hi Birdman, thanks for the info. Now I know it accept zip file.
I had also taken a photo (in device manager) showing both my Internal and Usb connected 5Tb Hdd (mounted) on my other Stb. I tried many ways to attach the photo by changing the format to png, jpg, zip but still failed to upload.
    Please help
