Setting up 16E Eutelsat with a 1 Metre Dish in UK

    Hi all,
I'm struggling to get setup with 16E Eutelsat. Basically I would like to access Croatian channels HRT1, HRT2 etc.

I am a bit confused as the pre-configured transponders on my First Strike only give satellites with a Longitude of 15.8. Should I be tuning for 15.8E not 16E?
I have tried tuning a few times first using Longitude 16E and the transponder frequency and symbol rate for HRT listed on Lyngsat. I get a LOCK but when scanning channels I am only getting a grand total of 14 channels back including some Turkish cartoon channel. I tuned to 15.8 pre-configured channels as well and still don't see many channels. Does my signal strength need to be a certain level to get HRT?

What transponder info should I be using for tuning? This is what HRT shows as on Lygsat

    Longitude: 16E ( I presume not 15.8?)
    Frequency: 10721 H
    SR: 27500
LO: (Set to frequency of LNB 97500 - My LNB has this written on the label as lowest setting)
    LNB: 18 ( for horizontal )
22khz -- Do I need to enable this or not?

Should I be locking on this or is there an ideal transponder frequency to lock on to for 16E? Im sure I should get more than 14 channels from the East of the UK but maybe Im wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

In my opinion, people do the wrong thing by scanning when aligning a satellite. It would be better to install a recent channel list on the receiver, select the service, adjust dish until you get signal/picture. You can then zap between different channels and tweak signal. You can download from
    Code:
    vhannibal.net

Agree totally with Abu .. you need to work with a defined service, otherwise you cannot check whether the setup is better or worse..... it's also important to ensure that you have the LNB skew corrrect for the satellite and your location ... it can make the difference between seeing all or not a lot!
E.g I could probably pick up 19.2E with a converted coat hanger (joking!) but for 28.2E I need a 1.5M dish with everything aligned, especially skew for services on the UK beam.

I get 787 services on 16e on my scan.

My receiver shows HRT-TV1 as being on:
    10721
    Horizontal
    27500
    3/4

I'm pulling this channel in on a 90 in the midlands, so a 1m should be fine.

Hi mate , 1 meter dish is perfect for Eutelsat 16A (16°E)

make sure the lnb must be Skew -12.8° and dish will be Elevation: 28.6°depend on you location ,i suggest first find hotbird cause is more easy , the 3 degree on your left is eutelsat 16 east ,all ways the dish is on front of you ,i mean you are behind the dish by tuning left or right ,Turkish channels are not on 16 degree, maybe you are on 7 east ,

    regards Nick

Thanks guys. Working like a dream now. My problem must of been that I was pointing the dish in the wrong direction and latching on a different satellite on the same frequency.
Since I posted this I've added a motor and upgraded the dish to an Aluminium Gibertini. I can now pick up 16E, 13E, 19.2E and 28.2E without any issues. Just need to start downloading some channel lists now I guess. Lots of German and Austrian channels but very little English audio :-)

Got myself an Antik Sat card now for 16E and need to figure out how to get this setup in the cam config so it reads it.
Any recommendations for the best English audio channels? What other satellites do you recommend I get channel lists for that can be picked up from the UK?
Or any European subscriber cards worth looking at?
