    VU+ Solo 4K tuner question

I have just been looking at the VU+ Solo 4K box:

    http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/VU/VU-Plus-Solo-4K

Because it says that it is a Twin Tuner DVB-S2, is a 2nd DVB-S2 tuner required as per the Tuner Slot Options, or can it be not required.

The Vu+ Solo 4K has FBC Satellite tuners. You don't have to add additional tuners if you don't wish to do so. It all depends on what your requirements are.

Well my requirements are to just use Freesat channels, watch one channel and possibly record another. I have just reaslised that the VU+ Solo 4K is pvr ready but the VU+ Solo2 doesn't say it is pvr, or won't that matter. I ask because in my other posts and questions , the boxes which were suggested to me were all pvr ones.

Both the Solo2 and Solo4k are only PVR capable if you add a storage medium such as a Hard Drive.
The solo2 and solo4k will both let you watch 1 freesat channel and record another providing you have 2 feeds from your dish with no other tuners needing to be added.
The solo4k depending on your lnb and cabling will let you record lots of channels from freesat at the same time.

    Just one other question please.

As the Solo 4K has a front 3.5” LCD which shows vivid streaming videos while you are watching TV as Mini TV, can this feature be turned off as I fear it may be a distraction whilst watching the TV screen?

You can use it to show your channel picons. So for example I am currently watching Sky 1 you can have the Vu+ Solo 4K LCD screen to show the Sky 1 channel picon.

Beauty with Enigma 2 receivers you can do what you want. You can try different Skins, I.e. If you wanted the Kodi Confluence look you can install that, if you wanted the Sky look you can install Blue HD or the YouView look (BT) you can install YouViX-Blue. So many things you can do to tinker to how you want it. Owning an E2 box is so much more fun!

Blimey, little did I know! It all sounds good, but regarding the LCD screen, is there any option to either disable it or turn it off, should I choose to.

Yeah its off by default and I've never set it up as a TV screen either, like you say will be too distracting.

Hi, can I ask a question regarding this please. I am coming from an old Sky setup, so my basic understanding and in my ignorance, all I know is I have 2 wires coming into my house from sky dish, this allows for recording of two channels.

If I was to purchase the Solo 4k, what type of LNB is required to allow many recording, despite only having 2 inputs from my satellite, like to understand this please

You cannot use a wideband LNB installed for Sky Q.

You can use a Universal Quad/Octo/Twin LNB, (what they usually install).
You can use a Hybrid LNB (Universal + Wideband)

A Unicable 2/Jess 2 LNB brings out the benefit of the FBC tuners. They fit on 40mm colalrs. You will need an adapater to fit to recent sky dishes
