Hi Jon - I presume I can since I'm in greater London but I've never looked into TV service with a fee.

Am I okay hijacking this tread? Didn't want to start another should I buy this box tread.

I have an old Technomate box and a motorised dish and wanted to upgrade to something that would run a different cam, and was badly advised to buy an Openbox v8s, which has lasted a massive 6 months before becoming a weird smelling plastic brick. Now I want something with a bit more quality and the Vix enigma boxes look great. After a week of lurking I've soaked in as much as I can and now need some final advice before choosing.

The Et7500 is one that I have looked at, I guess it would work with a motor to view different satellites? and view the channels on each satellite through the Vix skin? I would prefer a receiver with a built in hard drive although I'm not a big recorder, I have one satellite feed and maybe a Terrestrial arial (not sure if this is necessary) so don't think I need multiple tuners. I'm tempted to dabble in Kodi for iplayer etc. I like the Idea of streaming to other devices but not essential. Apart from speed what would be the reason to pay more for Xtrend ET8500 or Edision OS MEGA? Which receiver would you recommend me?

How many tuners do you want and what type? Dont forget that you can share those tuners around the house with kodi boxes

ET8500 can support up to four plug and play tuners, but no Kodi plugin.
OS Mega has three fixed tuners, 3rd can be used for either satellite, terrestrial or cable and also has a Kodi plugin.

Still trying to wrap my head around the tuners setup. Like I said I only have 1 cable from a standard satellite lnb. I don't think I can use multiple tuners so I'm trying to work out if it's worth paying for a better box if I'm not going to make use of them. The extra functions of kodi, an internal hd, and streaming to other devices is appealing, not sure which boxes support this.

Kodi isn't essential, but a nice addition. Could you list the ones that support it? Thanks.

Difficult, because the list is changing ... more receivers that have the correct drivers are being added as of today.
You need to define your budget requirements as this might make it easier... but to get the best out of these boxes (I believe) you really need a 2nd input if your LNB is capable or change the LNB.

Budget probably £100-£150 but could stretch to £200 if there's a good enough reason. Not sure about the LNB, pretty old could up grade in the future. What would I get from a single satellite cable with regards to recording and streaming to tablets etc?
